I had a hard time finding an iron planter, long enough to fit my window. I spray painted mine black, to match my other planters that look similar. It comes with a lot of very confusing "mounting hardware" - but the back of the planter has multiple straight, horizontal, support "rods". I totally couldnt figure out the mounting hardware it came with - but it was super easy to figure out i could just get heavy duty "hooks" and hang the basket from the window frame. I purchased 4 steel "storage hooks" that could support 40 lbs each, and then just used 4 hooks - 2 on each side to hang the basket. Took about 15 mins to "install" (basically just hanging the hooks to the window and then hanging the box from the hooks). So it was about $10 extra for the hooks - purchased separately on amazon. The planter is awesome. My others are the real deal - antique rod iron, and you can tell the difference close up - but this planter is absolutely fine. It will last and it blends in well enough. I am super happy with it - would definitely buy it again!

I bought this for under my main entrance window and it is gorgeous. Very good quality and easy to hang. It is a statement piece for sure.

But they will not mount to windows. There's all sorts of hardware for mounting onto rails and flat surfaces, but I'm still trying to figure out how to make some sort of brackets or something for window sills. So much for "window boxes"!

Sturdy and easy to install. Beautiful to look at. Looks like cast iron.
