UPDATED 10/10/2016: Been using this daily at work/at the library/in school and am loving it. I did notice one thing that was peculiar about this laptop. If you're using a pair of headphones with this laptop, when you first plug it in via the 3.5mm audio jack, you won't hear anything, despite having music/video playing and the sound is UNMUTED. The speakers, at this point, are silent too. To get sound output through your headphones, you have to turn the volume all the way down first (not muted, actually turn it down) then turn it back up to your desired sound level to hear through your headphones. I suspect this may be a safety design so you won't blow your your ear drums. I was very perplexed by this initially, but actually do rather appreciate this feature now!I bought this laptop as a cost-effective tool for school and am loving it! The 14-inch screen is big enough for me to watch a lecture and take notes on powerpoint at the same time without getting too cluttered or not having enough space to view things, but also not so huge that it becomes too big and heavy to carry around. I love the fact it still has an optical-storage drive, as many laptops these days no longer have such a feature and many schools still like to use materials that have complementary information on a CD/DVD.I like the keyboard, it is similar to the ones found on an Apple laptop, but these are NOT backlit. Feedback is smooth, and the mousepad is extremely smooth to the touch but still have the 2-button that I am so used to. Multi-gesture feature works as well. Not too many flashing lights on the laptop; the power button/mute button/wireless button have their own little indicator light, as well as another light on the front next to the media card reader to indicate HDD activity. One thing I had noticed though, the product description states this laptop has ALL USB 3.0 ports (4 of them), so I was a little surprised to see that all 4 USB ports did not have the customarily-blue plug (you know what I'm talking about). However, a look into Device Manager shows there are ONLY USB 3.0 controllers on the computer, and my USB 3.0 devices (an external HDD, an external DVD reader) both reported to be running at USB 3.0 speeds, so I won't complain, just miss the cool blue USB plugs is all.Screen is nice and bright and sharp, and I have not noticed any dead pixels. I love the metal palmrest AND the fact the speakers are located near the hinge area (above the keyboard), which, when you are using the laptop rested against your stomach, works SO MUCH BETTER than speakers that are positioned below the palmrest/mousepad area. The battery conforms to the overall shape of the laptop and is not obtrusive, and I can get about 7 hours on a full charge.Interestingly enough, the laptop came with Windows 7 Pro installed, but I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 (64bit) using a USB drive for a clean install. This laptop DOES allow you to boot from a USB drive which is great. The fan is not super loud , and I absolutely love the fact there is an actual i-3 processor (well, I guess two of them) in this little thing! The top cover of the laptop is textured plastic, which looks and feels great, but it DOES reflect finger prints/palm oil very easily (shiny oil on matte cover...), so make sure you give this laptop a quick wipe down every now and then.Lastly, the laptop comes with bluetooth enabled, 802.11N networking capability (so you can use 5.0ghz networks), AND the memory is upgradable to 16GB, which I will probably do in the next 6 months. I see this laptop as being easily able to serve me for the next 4-5 years, and I also do plan on finding a bigger capacity battery for it!

Beware Students
If you're a college student looking for a laptop, I highly recommend you do not get this. It works just fine if you're looking for a laptop to use occasionally, but as that I'm a student, this laptop just doesn't cut it for me. It's supposed to have a battery life of 4 hours. I'd say it's more like 3-3.5 hours. Since I am almost constantly working on my computer, it's annoying to have to keep plugging it in, and making sure I'm always near an outlet when using it. The audio jack is kind of messed up as that the headphone jack has to be plugged in a certain way, so any time the headphones are jostled, the sound starts playing through the computer's speakers (which is awkward if you're in the library as now everyone can hear your music). It also gets very hot. It has some other oddities, but I think those are fixable (I just haven't tried yet). All in all, I made the mistake of getting this laptop as a student (I've only had it for a year now). If you're a student, please do not get this laptop.
