I used these when I was in safari in Africa and did bush walks because I was worried about snakes, especially black mambas. Fortunately did not come across any but locals say they come across snakes often. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the single velcro and bottom snap do not allow for much adjustment of diameter around the legs and I cinched up as much as I could. I am 200 lbs and 5 ft 10 inches.I have two pair of Rattlers chaps for use when I work around blackberries and other thorny stuff around the home, and of course these would work on snakes too but would be too hot for Africa in their summer.

Met my expectations.

These work and fit great! Don’t get the larger sized ones unless your calves are very,very large. My calves are big ( 18”) but the larger sized gaiters were WAY to big. Hope this helps with sizing

I run archaeological survey crews through grasslands and mesquite. We've tried a number of different brands that are either made for 6-foot tall people, have an array of buckles and straps that take forever to put on, or have buckles that break in two days. These go on and off in seconds, thanks to velcro and a single top cinch. Highly recommended. To shorten the top if it rubs against the back of your legs, just cut a crescent out of the back with EMT shears or a knife, then use duct tape over both sides to reseal.

These things felt like you put PVC pipes on your legs- would rather chance a snake bite in the field. Especially because in the field I have to stand up and bend down a lot.

Fits great, easy to put on and makes you feel protected with out in snake country. So far I have not tested it on a real snake and hope never to have to but if the opportunity should strike I'll come back to this post with further report.

Excellent product - protect from briers & thorns - easy to put on & I suspect will be most durable. Very pleased customer in Texas. First order was sent in the wrong size but Amazon very promptly and quickly got the issue corrected - thanks Amazon.

Really well made. I had to return them because I am 5'3. These are too long for me. It covers my knee cap so I can't hike with these.
