Poor control of water flow.
Disappointed with this waterbrush. Despite the lovely fine tip of the brush and the apparently sophisticated valve mechanism, I found it very difficult to do detail work with this waterbrush. There was a continuous flow of water to the brush even when the tank was not squeezed, so it was not possible to properly regulate the consistency of the paint and get a 'dry' brush for fine detail. This brand compares poorly with other waterbrushes I have used, such as Pentel, Derwent and Koi.

portable, high quality, very fine tip
I recently went on a 3 week trip and I brought this and another Niji water brush, the flat 12mm. I ended up using this one every single time and it trekked all over Europe with me perfectly, without a single problem/leak.I like to draw jewelry and clothing sketches so I do a lot of fine drawing work and this brush with its very fine pointed tip worked really well for this type of work. I use Derwent's Inktense Pencils and the darker colors stained the brush tip but this hasn't been an issue, I haven't seen any color transfer onto lighter colors and when I paint with just water, the water comes out clear. The reservoir is a little tricky to fill with its tiny tiny opening, but once its filled up, it lasts a long time and does not leak. To get the water, you gently press on the reservoir and a little bead of water comes out. It's really neat. I tend to drop the first bead of water on my hand so that I can control how wet the brush is before painting over the inktense. This waterbrush though is imminently portable, and I find myself reaching for the brush even when I'm not traveling because its no clean up, and I don't need to set up a whole station to paint a few sketches.
