Very good book, easy to understand for beginners

This was a wonderful book for beginning (as advertised) sound board operators.

As an IT guy and singer who fell into sound mixing for his a cappella group, this book was perfect. It goes over the basics of live sound mixing and doesn’t get too bogged down in technical details. It’s a great starting point.

I used the book for volunteers that know nothing about mixing at my Church,it helps me out and explains the basics better than I could.

Like how it was made simple to understand. Enjoyed reading it learned alot. Wish I would have read this before I started pushing buttons and sliding levers. After reading this I feel knowledgeable about what is happening with the process. Not totally lost.

This book manages to convey lots of useful information in a very clear and logical way. It avoids the problems to wandering off into essoteric areas, while still provinding everything needed to understand mixing live sound. It does not assume knowledge the reader may not possess. An excellent book!

I have to say, as someone starting out on sound mixing for a local theatre group, this book is invaluable. I have learnt so much from this little book. I searched for an idiots guide, this is what came up, and it is exactly what I needed.

I like how the book is written in a light-hearted, easy-to-understand way. There are also fun and useful analogies to help beginners like me grasp concepts better, eg a whack-a-mole game to explain the idea of keeping sound peaks in check in the chapter on compression. The illustrations also add a touch of fun and wit.

The book may not be long but it distills a lot of information for a newbie to live sound. Not suitable for an experienced sound professional, it's instead aimed at the novice.

Written for readers who have no or little knowledge of sound mixing. Easy to understand. Excellent for beginners
