Q: This kind of leatherette is not durable. What's the best replacement for this protein wrinkled leather sound-wise (that sounds identical) ?

I think the "leatherette" is degraded by lotion/face cream. I'm thinking of a way to remove and cover the remaining vinyl and foam with something more durable. Lambskin is too thick. Thinking of pigskin. For you vegan folks consider a very thin canvas or similar type product.
