This is the 4th Zagg ipad case I have owned. The cases last longer then the iPads.
Excellent case and battery life. I only charge it every couple of months and I use it everyday. This turns any iPad into a mini laptop and the case provides excellent protection in the event it accidentally gets dropped. The case is a little heavier then most but the build quality is excellent and it has backlit keys. I had one of these for each of my iPads over the years. I end up purchasing new cases because the upgraded pad is always slightly bigger then the previous pad. Anyways, happy to recommend!

iPad feels like a brick xxxxhouse
I purchased this case for my aging iPad Air 2 after I had worn out several cheaper ones that had bad key contacts and bluetooth connection problems. As I am not a touch typist, backlighting was a key feature to me since I often use in the dark while in bed or traveling. The backlighting is more than sufficient but not bright enough to be distracting. The fit is perfect and the exterior protection for the device feels really substantial however do not intend to drop it as a test! A friend recently broke her screen with a small small drop reminding me of the added value of a case. Bluetooth connection was seamless and estimated battery life is phenomenal - I have so far been using for a month without recharging. Since I often use my iPad for reading music on stage, having a detachable screen without sacrificing case protection is a huge bonus. My only minor negative comment is that although the keys feel rugged and tactile, they make a bit more noise than other keyboards I have had which could be disturbing if you type beside a sensitive sleeper in bed.All in all though I am pleased I spent the extra cost for a sturdy case.

Great protection, but it’s a BEAST!
If you want fantastic protection for your iPad, this is the case for it. It’s heavy though, but when my friend saw it, he was amazed at the protection and sturdiness of the case. He said he thought I could drop it off the roof and it would be fine. (Do NOT try this though. haha).I almost sent this back when I got it because I tried for at least 30 minutes to insert my iPad into the case the way the instructions said, and they were wrong. It will only fit in the opposite direction. It’s a very sturdy rubber- like material that is quite thick and heavy as I said. So far it has been a bit difficult to open it and close it but maybe that’s because it’s brand new. I expect that it will get easier over time. I haven’t quite got used to using my new ipad along with a keyboard, and I do kind of wish that I had got a keyboard with a trackpad on it. I think that might have made it a little easier to use the keyboard with the iPad. I’m just not used to it yet. But when I am typing on the keyboard, it’s great— just like typing on a laptop. You just have to push one button to join the keyboard via Bluetooth. I highly recommend it if you can live with how heavy it is. It’s not really something that I would throw in my purse and carry around all day because of its weight, but I believe it would be totally safe if you wanted to do that!

I Loved It Until I Didn’t. *CANNOT* recommend.
Editing my original review, which still can be found below.Updated Review:While I really loved this case originally, it stopped working within 6 months. I assumed it must be my fault or something because I had loved the first one I bought for over a year. Unfortunately, it was outside the warranty, so I bought another in March 2023.I mostly use my iPad to watch shows or read, but I used the keyboard once a month to take notes during a committee meetings as secretary. Yet, at the end of June 2023, it stopped working yet again. Both times, most of the keys have stopped registering. This time, caps lock is stuck “on” and I can’t even get the keyboard as a whole to turn off.Unfortunately… there’s only a month warranty on the product. So twice in less than a year I’m left hanging. I’ve emailed the company, but they responded that I’m outside of warranty.Despite originally loving this product, I cannot in good faith suggest a product that stops working within a few months. I think my next move is to order on the actual Zagg website as they have extensive warranties and have been amazing to work with in the past — they just can’t fulfill warranties on products bought by a 3rd party.********************Original Review:I use my iPad mini like a computer all the time. I originally had this keyboard on my first iPad mini, but after I got a new one, I thought I could go with one that didn't seem so hefty (read: I wanted a super cute pink one instead). Dear reader, let me tell you, that was a mistake. I finally decided after 2 years of hardly using my iPad that maybe if I had the same keyboard I had before that I would use it more. And I do!It is hefty, but in a sturdy kind of way not a too heavy kind of way. The iPad section easily pops off if I just want to have that without the keyboard. The keyboard's battery life lasts and lasts, and easily connects to the iPad.People are always asking me where I got it and are saying how cute my "tiny laptop" is. Plus, it's made doing my on-the-go writing way easier. My fingers fit perfectly to the keys and I type just as easily as I do my full sized laptop. Lastly, I no longer have to worry about being clumsy... I've dropped this thing a few times and it's protected.

A durable case, but a flaw in the design
I bought the earlier model of this case and liked it enough to get it again. My work is mostly on the road and the case is subject to falls and other trauma. It definitely has performed well in these conditions. The keyboard also functions really well and this version’s keyboard is nicer than the last. The last version was held up by a propping the back of the case and this was not easy to use when trying to use in my lap. I was happy to see that this case had a hinge to support the pad instead, but the hinge is very stiff. When trying to move it back, the iPad often pops-out and makes a bad sound like it’s breaking. It actually is breaking, as it only took a couple of months for cracks to form on each side of the case. A rather disappointing design flaw to an otherwise great case/keyboard.
