Any good pair of household scissors should make a clean cut. Attach the buckle by inserting the cut end of the strap into the bottom of the buckle. Close the hinged "trapdoor" to secure the strap to buckle. After putting the SlideBelt on, insert the belt tip through the buckle and pull to tighten. There are no silly magnets or bulky levers to get in the way of taking off a SlideBelt. Simply lift on the frame of the buckle to disengage the mechanism and release or loosen the SlideBelt.

best belt i've ever owned
I'm used to belts stretching out over time because the holes don't exactly align with my best fit so they are always slightly too loose or too tight. not so with this ratchet design. It's easy to adjust to whatever size will fit me best and has a nice look to it.the only complaint I have, and it's not even really a complaint, is that the belt takes slightly longer to latch compared to a traditional belt. i really like this product and would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a belt that fits without a lot of fuss.

A great high end product for the money
A great high end product for the money, it looks very good, well made, packaged very nicely. It took less than 5 minutes to size and assemble. It's great to have a belt that fits perfect and looks good.

"Vegan Leather "= Imitation Leather = Less Durability
This is a very good product that I would give 5 stars for the concept and work-ability, but only 3 stars for durability, so I am averaging it to a four-star review. I bought this belt to replace one that I have had for about 3 years. Note the word "vegan" in the product name; that is a PC term for "imitation leather." As such, my older belt started developing surface cracks about six months ago and is now to the point where I can't trust it because the cracks are so bad I am afraid the belt will break while wearing it. A real leather belt would not do that. I have real leather belts that are 20 years old and still in great shape. I like the ratchet-belt concept for its ease of adjustment, so I am willing to give it another try. Maybe this one will last longer.

Very easy to use, and it comes very easy to trim neatly to the proper length for individual sizing! Nice look and materials too! Solid product!

Works better than any belt I've owned
For 95% of my life I've used the standard belts you get in most men's stores. They're fine though of the last few years with my waistline expanding some (gone from size 38 up to a 43 waist this past decade) I've found them all wanting. I tried a different belt prior to getting this one, and while it worked better, it still was found wanting.First, a caveat. I intend on shedding some weight, hopefully 50 pounds when all is said and done so I made the cut on the belt length appropriately. If I gain another waist size, I'll be fine, but that's it. Size 46 and I cannot use this belt any longer. So, it's pushing me to make sure I do start to lose my weight. You can cut to size and it's recommended you leave enough room for expansion, which I did leaving about 4-6 inches of excess. After that, "installation' of the belt in to the buckle is pretty easy enough. I had to make another cut because I left too much room, but after that it was fine. I've not experienced any slippage in the belt in the 6 or more months I've used it and it's my go-to for all my pants and shorts that have belt loops.

Doesn’t last
Had the belt for less than two weeks. Great concept. But doesn’t last when used under strenuous circumstances. I have to bend and crouch a lot when I work, and the teeth ripped through under normal working conditions for me. Again. Great concept. But flawed design unfortunately
