Great for horizontal hanging, quick adjusting
I use these to hang my fenders horizontally. They work great for fast adjustment of fender height, as all it takes is to wind them around the upper and lower lifelines to raise them all the way to the deck, or drop them all the way down to below the dock edging. The horizontal orientation works better for us in a tight slip. The only catch is that you have to be careful not to let the jib sheets catch on them. I've gone out for a dozen day sails since doing this, and a few times I've lost one end, but never both. I'm not too worried about it, as they *do* float, after all, but so far we've never lost both at once.

These work great on my 34' sailboat
These work great on my 34' sailboat. They are 'tight' and I have to push them down pretty hard to get them to fit the lifelines, but they go on, they don't slide back and forth on the lifeline thus holding the fender securely in place. QUICK to deploy, quick to take in, that is key for us there is a lot to do on a sailboat when exiting and entering a marina.

Not the Best Fender Holders
These didn't work out for us. The plastic on the clips is rock hard and wouldn't flex enough to work. Also, the opening for the line barely fits a standard fender line. They're cheap and might work for you, but there are better options out there.

Do Not Buy
These fender line clips completely fail to achieve their most basic function. They do not fit onto a standard lifeline. The plastic is too rigid and the gap too small to slide the lifeline into the clip. Completely defeats the purpose of having a fender line clip. I am returning these clips and will find something else that actually fits on a lifeline.

The other nice part is they are height adjustable with using figure ...
I have been using these clips for years. So long in fact that they finally broke apart from uv deterioration. They clip, with a little bit of effort and won't unclip also with a bit of effort and once clipped, they slide along to just where you want them. The other nice part is they are height adjustable with using figure eight stopper knots or just move them to the upper or lower lifelines. I love they are easy to remove so if our dock side changes when a transient, it's a quick operation to move the fenders to the other side. My last one broke last spring and I have been looking for them when ever I'm in a marine shop. I'm super glad they had them here. I don't recall having spent so much on them as they are on here but that was a very long time ago.
