Both the "board" (which is actually high quality plastic) and the pieces are the right size. You can roll up the board and take it with you on vacation or travel. The hard plastic pieces are I guess "regulation size", not sure, but they have the right balanced weight, and are easy to move and store. The extra Queen comes in handy if you are lucky to pass a pawn to the last row. The cool white-green color palette is easy on the eye. Lovely graduation gift for that smart kid in your family. NOTE: The pieces are not magnetic. So you need to play with this set on level ground or on a table. It comes with a carry-on bag.
