I like these lights for emergencies. I have not had a chance to see how they work during a power outage yet, but I'm glad to know that I have taken measures not to be in the dark if and when it does happen. One thing that I found annoying is that after you have had them in the light socket of a lamp for a few weeks, the light bulb will slowing glow up to a level of brightness AFTER you turn off the power to the lamp. For no reason the light will come back on and stay on for a long time until I guess some of the power in the bulb is gone. The only way to get the light to go off is to manually turn the light bulb off directly on the lamp itself instead of the wall switch which has killed the power to the light source. Not for sure why this is happening but hopefully this can be something that can be fixed.

I kept two myself and gave others a gifts. Worked much better than a flashlight as so much brighter and I put a strap on mine to be able to hold on my wrist as I am looking for something. Easy to hang if need be. Loved to use in my shed and also if I had to go outside after dark.

I have not had yet the opportunity to try these during a power outage. So I hope I am glad I have these.. I wanted to buy the least amount possible to try and see if they are worth buying. They are large. They are not the same size as a standard American bulb. The socket is but not the bulb. So if you have a lamp with a limited amount of space to place a bulb this is not for you... I originally wanted to replace all the bulbs in my home with this type of bulb. Buying these has made me reconsider that thought. I will update when I get the chance to use them during a power outage. Update: Power Outage on Thanksgiving 2021and like a charm these bulbs kicked in and saved the evening. I noticed as the hours went by that the lights got dimmer and dimmer, but all in all I was happy they lite up the evening when I had company. 2nd UPDATE: Last night 01/17/22 my Power when off then on and off and on all in a space of about a half an hour. (the whole neighborhood did). My lights are NOT working Yep you read this right... With the power ON and just turning on the lamp the bulb will not turn on. Placed in a new lamp that I know works and nothing. Now if I put the cap on the bulb it works in that mode, but not as a bulb.. What happened?

I have purchased these several times. There is a learning curve with the solar lights, #1 is to keep them charged,#2 While they will work as a standard LED bulb, they work best when the power goes out. #3 Simply turn the switch to the on position when the power goes out. #4 If the LED glows dimly when the switch it turned off then the bulb electronics are going bad. Normally these will last for about 3 years before they go bad. I try to keep fresh bulbs on hand to replace any that go bad. If you receive a bad bulb in your order reach out to the company not Amazon, most will replace a bulb or give you credit, if it is bad when you receive it. Be sure and charge the bulb(s) first before you condemn one of them.
