I think Kurt Vonnegut.) - If I were teaching biostatistics again (something I have done on two occasions), I would consider this book as the text to my course. I've been away from academia long enough to recognize the need to survey other possible texts, but at the very least this book does nothing obviously wrong. It brings basic statistics to students or those simply interested in the subject, a nice, easily understandable introduction. Not strong on research design, data analysis, or clinical versus statistical significance, but it's what it purports to be: an introductory text. It achieves its goal.
