How can this be both authentic and synthetic?

It is para-dichlorobenzene and not camphor at all. I bought some. Smells like urinal cakes. I work in a lab. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of it show that it is para-dichlorobenzene. This isn't synthetic camphor. It's not camphor at all.

It was 4 packets that contained 4 blocks in each, so there were 16 small square blocks of camphor in it.

Is this pure camphor?

No, it is para-dichlorobenzene. It is not camphor. It is the stuff urinal cakes are made of.

Cluster flies

So far so good in keeping cluster flies away. I placed the tablets in this one area where they keep hanging around. The smell isn't strong at all. Not like the Vicks shower tablets that I tried that seem to be God awful in smell. Fingers crossed it stay this way.
