A transparent acrylic tank, similar to the Reservoir, with 1 x 24 watt power compact lamp mounted on the lid. The refugium should be plumbed into the aquarium water circuit and can be used in a variety of modes: as a refugium (with live rock), as an algal filter typically planted with Caulerpa sp., as a deep sand bed for nitrate removal or as a holding tank to acclimate and condition new fish before they are released into the main aquarium.
