The book is as expected however the "look inside" shows the pages in colour including the photo of the author and "getting started" for page 3 and 5 in colour. However the inside of the book the figures of screen grabs are entirely in black and white with the quality of the screen shots being too dark so most the text is not easy to read. Some of the font and icons are too small so knowing this we would have bought the black and white kindle version. I would have paid more for a colour copy if this was an option.

I've tried several different books to teach myself game development. This is the best one I've found so far. This truly is a beginner's guide. - Did you know that Unreal Engine really is NOT a game engine? You learn more about that in Chapter 3 and what that actually means. - How do you create your own controls for that First Person masterpiece you've been thinking about? That's Chapter 6. - Ever wonder what Super Mario might be like as a Third Person game? You get an idea thank to the last chapter. This book won't build you a million dollar AAA game, but it will show you (perhaps even teach some of you) the same basics that are used in biggest franchises in gaming... all without having to learn a single line of C++ code.

Really liked this book. It was a great introduction to Unreal and video game development. It would have been better if the tutorials at the end had been spread out more throughout the book, but you can just go back and forth yourself.
