My only complaint is that from the first time I used this reel it has 'hitches' in the spin. While reeling in it often catches temporarily and I have to finesse it so that I may continue winding it up. Other than that it seems good and I like the lightweight for backpacking.

Zebco branded products are always a hit or miss with me. Theyre very well known for their spincast reels, but most through fisherman use spinning reels and baitcasters.Anyway with that said, this 300 sized reel is a peach! I bought it to replace a Matzuo rod and reel combo that had an excellent rod, with the reel being complete meh.Some highlights:- Comes pre-spooled with 10lb Zebco Cajun branded line which is actually not bad. Enough to go after bass right off the bat.- Biggie: It has an anti-reverse gear! A lot of cheap reels don't have anti-reverse which, can be annoying to reel forward, stop, only for your handle to click back a bit to lock up. I bought a Daiwa 2500 Strikeforce in this price range without this feature.- Excellent average speed. 5.2.1 I believe which is not bad.- Budget priced. I actually prefer the third party manufacturers of fishing equipment nowadays, Piscifun, Runcl to name a few. However, their reels are 5 to 10 dollars more. You get the same quality as theirs with this one, but this one comes with line already. A plus. To summarize, this reel is a recommended replacement for any combo with a bad reel or even a blank fishing pole without a reel. I'm gonna buy extra to keep around.

Spins awesome. Is a great budget reel. I had an old zebco that lasted 10 years. I'm sure the new one will last just as long.

This reel started making grinding noises the first day I used it. It also bird nests like nobody's business. I miss when zebco was a solid reel manufacturer.

This reel is a very good buy.It came early and is very smooth to reel in so I definitely recommend it to any fisherman that needs a new dependable reel.

I bought this for an old rod that I repaired the tip on as a beater/loaner rig. I actually picked this over some other low buck reels because it came with line. I wasn't really expecting much and I've been very pleasantly surprised! First of all, it does have an anti-reverse switch, I couldn't tell from the pictures and it would have been a deal breaker but it does and it works well. Everything about this feels solid and high quality. Time will tell on longevity but i'd stack it up with a Shimano Sienna and other reels of that class in terms of feel.
