The only serum I use
As an over 60 woman, this is exactly what my skin needs without grease and breakouts. The brightening effect also fades facial hair just long enough for me to get to it!

Pre-serum. Excellent array of ingredients to address pigmentation, dullness
Image has several collections within their skin care line. This Intense Facial Illuminator is part of their Iluma collection, which is formulated to diminish dark spots and hyperpigmentation. This goes on like a serum, and can be used as such, but it is really a pre-serum--use before your other serums. After I wash and tone my face, I add a few drops all over. It is a clear, light, non tacky slightly viscous "serum". While there is no added fragrance/parfum, there are ingredients that lend to the light fragrance. I see that it has orange oil, limonene, geranium, and citronelle. Has a very faint rose aroma, which I attribute to the citronelle.. It does not linger, and it is not strong. This product is from a quality company, and I have been using a variety of their products over the past few years. Some I like more than others, and overall have found them effective. It is a matter of finding the right products for your needs. I am using a couple of other brands to address brightening, so I am not sure how much more I will see with this. What I like is how well it absorbs, how I dont feel like I put anything on, and that it really doesnt take much to cover face. Sometimes I add a drop to the back of my hands or anywhere I have a dark spot. This will be my summer brightening product as my current product is more of a cream. This is so lightweight that I can easily and quickly move onto other products without concern of product pilling/rolling. I'd say that this is for anyone who wants to address dark spots and brighten the skin overall. There are other products in this line that compliment each other, but this can be use alone with your other products. Definitely make sure to use SPF as any sun induced hyperpigmentation will keep coming back if skin isn't protected from rays. KEY INGREDIENTS: --Tranexamic acid: A potent brightening ingredient that helps to correct and prevent the appearance of skin discoloration --Glycolic acid: An AHA that helps to exfoliate dead skin, this helps reveal smooth skin --Ascorbic acid: A highly effective, stable vitamin C-derived agent that helps to boost luminosity, brightening --Niacinamide (B3): A versatile skin restorer that helps to visibly improve the appearance of dull, uneven skin. An all around powerful work horse in the skin care world. No idea how much is in here. It doesn't say, and they wont say (I asked). Other notable ingredients: --Licorice root extract: shown to decrease melanin content when applied to the skin and so reduce skin pigmentation --Ginseng root: boosts skin hydration, diminishes rough texture, helps fade uneven skin tone, and help visibly improve wrinkles by working within skin to bolster its natural firmness --Bran water: softens skin camellia sinensis lead extract (green tea): powerful skin antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory powers, can repair DNA damaged by UV radiation, can protect the skin from UVB radiation, and reduce water loss through the --Hyaluronic acid, which seems to be in everything and doesn't need to be. It is a simple humectant. Draws moisture to itself by taking moisture from air or from skin. Be sure to use anything that contains HA on slightly damp skin and/or be sure to lock it in with a moisturizer (something with occlusive). --Willow bark extract: anti-inflammatory, anti oxidant, soothing, can reduce redness INGREDIENTS: AQUA/WATER/EAU, ORYZA SATIVA BRAN WATER, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, TRANEXAMIC ACID, GLYCERIN, 3-O-ETHYL ASCORBIC ACID, NIACINAMIDE, GLYCOLIC ACID, PHENOXYETHANOL, SCLEROTIUM GUM, CITRUS JUNOS SEED EXTRACT, LACTOBACILLUS FERMENT, SCUTELLARIA BAICALENSIS ROOT EXTRACT, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) PEEL OIL, PELARGONIUM GRAVEOLENS (GERANIUM) FLOWER OIL, LIMONENE, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL, EPILOBIUM ANGUSTIFOLIUM FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, LINALOOL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, PANAX GINSENG ROOT EXTRACT, SALIX NIGRA (WILLOW) BARK EXTRACT, CITRAL, ACETYL TETRAPEPTIDE-2, SODIUM METABISULFITE

Image Skincare ILUMA intense facial illuminator, 1 fl. oz.
I really like Image skincare, particularly this ILUMA line. As serums go, this one is excellent for brightening and lifting skin tone especially when used in conjunction with a dermaroller! I went on a trip with my sisters and even though I used sunscreen and did my best to avoid sun, I swear when I got back I noticed my skin pigmentation was more pronounced. I immediately booked myself a facial with...well, me...and did a gentle peel, then used a serious round of brighteners a few days later to lift the remnants of sun darkening. I was much, much happier with the overall tone and brightness of my skin after that! This serum did play a role in that targeted facial and as such I think it was an important part of helping my skin improve. The texture is a little on the thicker side, more viscous than a lot of the watery liquid serums that often tout brightening properties via Vitamin C. I used this about midway through the facial process as it's about a medium thickness serum and I felt it fit in properly in that space. I didn't experience any unpleasant reactions with my other products and I really, really enjoyed the scent of this product. Floral and citrusy, feminine and light. I wish it'd been more lasting but it was quickly gone. I'm overall really happy with this and I think it has a great space in any skin brightening facial treatment. I liked combining this with a peel several days prior as I think the two styles of treatment worked well in providing encouragement for fresh, new skin - of course I also made sure to drink water and take plenty of collagen to give my body what it needed to rebuild beautiful, plump new skin. Highly recommend this for beauty enthusiasts and professionals to use in their facial resurfacing treatments that focus on skin brightening. Works beautifully and I would say there is only mild irritation on more sensitive skin types, otherwise no issues for me. Recommended.

Use as part of a system
I’ve gotten to try several different products from Image and I used to review them individually, but I feel like that’s unfair because Image’s Skincare products are really meant to be used with other Image Skincare products. For this review, I used 3 products: **Image Skincare ILUMA intense facial illuminator, 1 fl. oz.** Image Skincare Iluma Intense Brightening Exfoliating Cleanser 4 fl. oz Image Skincare VITAL C hydrating facial mist, 2.3 fl. Oz These are from two of Image’s lines; the Iluma line and the Vital line. The Iluma line is meant to brighten and illuminate skin and act as a corrective against blemishes. There are 4 products in this line. The Vital line uses Vitamin C to help keep skin healthy. There are 6 products in this line. My daily regime with these were I used the cleanser first after showering in the morning. Then I would mist my skin with the facial mist and apply the illuminator after. I have been doing this for a month. My skin definitely looks much brighter and fresher. I had some acne scarring which looks a light lighter. Sometimes I kept the facial mist in my purse and used it when I felt a bit dry. This was especially important, because the first week, using the cleanser really dried out my skin as it became used to using a new product. I HIGHLY recommend all 3.

Cocktail of dark spot reducing ingredients
This Iluma facial illuminator from Image Skincare has all the ingredients to help brighten the skin and would be good for those not sensitive to vitamin C containing products. On the top of the ingredients list, Bran water provides essential skin nutrients. Pentylene Glycol binds water to retain moisture for mature skin. Tranexamic acid, interferes with pigmentations from forming, helping to reduce dark spots. It’s got a great shot at reducing dark spots as well as looking more moisturized over time. It does have elements like vitamin C, which I seem to be sensitive to, and when tested on my arm, I felt the slight sting. So we are using this on my husband who is not sensitive to vitamin C and he likes it as a refresher post shower. Its scent smells like a mix of licorice and citrus, and can be unisex.
