The Best Of Dire Straits And Mark Knopfler: The Best of... All the Best Songs Arranged for Gui

A decent book with plenty of tunes for the money but be aware of occasional variations from the originals in fingering.
Very detailed and accurate note-wise but the fingerings provided are sometimes suspect. For example, the transcription of 'Going Home' opens with a 'C' type CAGED shape at the second fret but if you watch Mark play this tune live, he employs a 'G' shape at the seventh fret which is far simpler and easier to play. Unless he used the given fingering for the recorded version and a completely different fingering when playing live, which is EXTREMELY unlikely, the transcription is simply wrong in this respect (edit: the author very graciously confirmed that this is the case and that he transcribed it solely from the audio). So, a decent book with plenty of tunes for the money but if you want to play Knopfler's songs the way that he himself plays them then you'll need to be alert to this issue and make some adjustments where necessary.

Good Book
Has a good selection of hits from the band, includes a nice CD with some backing music to play to.

Private Investigations
It's a great book, I've always wanted a Dire Straits book (even though I will be the first to admit it is WAY beyond my guitar ability) and it is great, has brilliant accurate detail of all my favourite songs, a must buy for any Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler fan.

The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler
I found this book very frustrating to use ,the pages end in the middle of vital bars making it very difficult to learn songs unless you write them down on a separate sheet of paper , which defeats the object of buying the book. This book was not put together by a guitarist it seems.
