Amazing product
As many people around, I had same problem struggling to find right adapter to connect my old HP analog LCD with new MSI GTX 1050 graphic card, what have DVI-D, HDMI and DP ports. I tried different types, brands and all refused to connect properly, recognize my monitor, as HP, setting it as plain VGA display, put some weird resolutions as recommended, instead of native 1280x1024. Fortunately i find post on tech forum, where one person had same difficulties and he was lucky to find GoFanco adapter, what help him solve it. I went here and ordered this adapter. Amazing result. It immediately find my monitor model with model number, set native 1280x1024 resolution as recommended. Crystal clear graphics, no flickering, no blurring, no artifacts. Absolutely happy now and HIGHLY recommending this adapter. This one nave not extra mini-USB port to provide more power, but in my case it not need at all. DVI-D port provide enough voltage to power up chipset. It nice product. To me It seems well designed, have good chip set inside and looks very good and it work in desirable way. Highly happy.

This adapter works great, and was very cost-effective
This adapter works great, and was very cost-effective. I bought a new pc and needed some adapters to make my two (older) VGA monitors work with my new video card outputs. Initially, in a rush, I drove to Best Buy and bought 3 adapters that totaled $150. Tow of those adapters didn't work (I didn't realize that they only work one-way). Frustrated, but not deterred (I have a new pc, I want to turn on!), I came to Amazon (where I should've come first!) and found two replacements for the two cables I bought at Best Buy. The two cables via Amazon were $25 delivered. And I later got a $90 credit for the other two at Best Buy. The moral of the story is try Amazon first! And Gofranco's item works wonderfully & was exactly as described. Thanks you guys!

Description is bogus
The description: (gofanco® DVI-D to VGA Active Converter - Black MALE to FEMALE with 3 Feet Micro USB Power Cable for DVI Enabled Systems to Connect to VGA Displays) is bogus as the cable is only 3 inches long instead of 3 feet which is actually what I wanted. If you want a three foot cord you are out of luck but the converter works great so far. I'm now able to run the full res of my second monitor which I actually had to swap as this cable took over the main monitor output so I switched cables to the monitors, set the resolutions and off I went. So far the screens is crisp and is pleasant to use. DVI-D is usualy for HDMI outputs but this converts to analog VGA output and I recommend it if that is what you need.

Works well, just a bit blurry...
Before you you buy this adapter, you should make sure that the following applies in your case:1) You have a DVI connector on your desktop or laptop and you want to connect a VGA display to it. These adapters will not do the opposite so if your computer has a VGA (15 pin blue) port and your monitor has DVI, this will not work.2) Determine if you have a DVI-D or a DVI-I port on your computer. DVI-D connectors are missing the 4 pins around the flat PIN located on the left side of the connector. This adapter works with DVI-D ports which means that there are no pins around the flat pin. If you have a DVI-I (4 pins around the flat pin) you can use a passive converter linke this one: Lineso 2Pack DVI Male To VGA Female AdapterDVI-D vs DVI-IDVI-I ports offer both digital and analogue signals so you can connect passive adapters to them. The analogue signals are presented to the port by your graphics card and passive connectors can just change the port type by connecting the VGA port to the right pins on the DVI connector of your graphics card. DVI-D connectors (missing pins around the flat pin) produce digital signals only and VGA ports are analogue so you need an active adapter/converter that has the necessary circuitry to "read" the digital signals and then "create" the analogue signals. This is exactly what this adapter does and it does it fairly well.I needed this active connector in 2 separate cases and both times it worked. The first one I bought was 11 months ago and it is connected to a computer that is on 24/7 and have not have a problem with it. The second one I just got to connect a second monitor to my new Radeon R560 graphics card. This adapter is truly plug and play and you will not need drivers for it. As a matter of fact, your operating system may not even know that you are using it. Yet, your operating system will detect the VGA monitor you plugged in without a problem. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it has a bit of a blur effect. I know this because I am connecting a 40" 1080p Sony TV on it that has a VGA port and I had this same TV connected to my previous GTX450 card which had DVI-I using a passive adapter and it was perfectly crisp. So this active adapter does affect the quality of picture. Having said that, the quality is acceptable to work with.

I have a dual HDMI/VGA monitor setup using a DisplayLink device connected to my computer. Both connections on the back of the DisplayLink device are DVI, what I failed to notice was that one was DVI-I (Dual Link) and the other was a DVI-D (Dual Link). One of my monitors kept a random flash to black and back about every minute or so. Swapping the cables between the monitors I narrowed it down to the one DVI-D connection as the DVI-I cable worked flawless no matter what monitor it was plugged into. After several different attempts with other adapters to get both monitors to work correctly I purchased this DVI-D (Dual Link) adapter and now both are working flawlessly. For reference the DVI-I has four small pins around the blade on the left side of the male end of the plug that prevents it from being used on the DVI-D side.

It worked great for about 2 weeks and then it just died on me. It's really not worth the hassle to return this defective product. Maybe I just got a dud.
