Q: Can I leave this in my tub after I shower or bathe? Or do I have to take it out after each time?

The mat suction cups will collect hair over time, so you'll want to flip it over and rinse / clean it off from time to time. I wouldn't expect immediate cleaning to be necessary. Much of this will depend on your own tolerance for cleanliness. I'll keep you informed as to my future experience. Hope this helps. I actually have two of these, neither of these two bath tubs get much traffic, primarily for guests.

Q: Is this good for small children to sit on?

PVC is quite harmful. Here's an online quote,"Studies of animals show that some of these chemicals are may cause cancer, kidney and reproductive system damage. The disturbing part is that soft PVC is often used in toys for young children – and they just love putting things in their mouths." I would not use this mat for children.
