I dislike almost all rap. However, I'm into beautiful, deeply felt masterpieces.
It is an honor to have stumbled into this album via Nujabes' and Shing02's music via Samurai Champloo, along with the other Lo-Fi Godfathers surrounding the genre. That said, there are many levels of music. Some is just fun, some is motivational, some is propagandist, some simply expresses a feeling. The pinnacle, however, blends the best of human kind and BRINGS us to face the deepest and most meaningful aspects of our existence, within our mind, spirit, and our emotions. Once you hit that level, it is the masterpiece level of music. This level of music is the best we have to offer one another, artistically, in all forms. It brings us to start a self-reflective and existential process that is the most important thing to the human core. Music is extremely powerful when it comes down to triggering this self-reflection. It seems to sweep us along past our inhibitions and allows us to face our strengths as well as pains and vulnerabilities. I don't even like rap, but I absolutely love LS Hexalogy. This is the kind of music that cuts to the core of the human heart, because it speaks elegantly and vulnerably of the most meaningful core fabric of human life itself. It speaks, and can resonate to the human entity that listens to it, if you open yourself to full vulnerability, possibly to pain, and to allowing whatever comes through to be felt and understood over time. This kind of stuff transcends all the garbage which doesn't really matter, and locks onto a self-reflective process that can become very rich on the inside, on a personal level. It cuts out the petty, superficial crap our society has become obsessed with, re-centering square onto what really matters. This album may lead you to begin processing what's causing you to operate as a dysfunctional or damaged human, or it may simply allow you to gain more quality wisdom by leading you to new positive revelations. For me it triggered a freeing in my soul to face things in a deep introspective process, leading to maturing my walk with life. Quality thinking and soul-shaping ALWAYS takes time, and they ALWAYS require your participation, and they always require you to give yourself permission to let go and exist in the uncomfortable and uncertain moments. You MUST exist with uncertainty, and allow yourself to be OK with being uncomfortable. I have become emotionally OK with discomfort, because I know there is a rich soul-building result on the other side - no matter how long it may take. It's the foundational stuff life is made of and worth pursing for, along with the simple pleasures that come from a solid foundation. For me it's taken months since I first listened and felt through the entire album. I didn't even have to force it... my soul just naturally leaked new revelations in feeling and then in though. A subconscious wrestling with understanding those feelings ensued, then finally after enough time it revealed into conscious understanding. It was painful, but I could tell it was very real and very important to continue to face my pain. This album plugs into the very center of my soul and embodies things I could not express or understand or feel subconsciously as a child, linked to problems I have now as a human going through adulthood, and also linked to core principles to life which I have found to be good and true and worthy of keeping as part of who I am. It gave me an anchor to really say hey, yes, this resonates with me beyond just thinking and doing, but of being one transitory physical, intellectual, and vibrational/spiritual part of the universe. It helped jumpstart my deepest pains and trauma. I felt bad, but I had an emotional platform to then face it and transition THROUGH those pains, instead of worthlessly re-living the same self-protective trauma cycles. It bypassed and allowed me to permit myself to feel nasty pain and self-destructive beliefs and ideas ingrained in my soul from childhood.I'm (mostly) accepting now of being just one small self-aware transitory part that is here like a brief dissipating puff of morning fog that one breathes out. I know that I am privileged to exist within this short puff of time. I've permitted myself to let go of feeling awful about the temporal and impossible-to-control nature that the universe actually is. So, though I'll be forgotten forever, unless our spirit beings meet on the other side of this temporary realm, I'll dissipate having at least known myself that much better, and that makes me feel so good about what I've been given as a whole in life.. I feel love toward having an opportunity at life at all, even if most of it is frivolous. Loving one another and knowing what a gift we has gives us the best platform to live from and keep ourselves based in reality, which further strengthens us to live our best lives. Even if nothing matters afterward, it will have mattered to have lived at it's peak meaning during. It's totally out of our control in the end. It really is. So, I at least know somewhere in myself that to face it with love, truth, accuracy, and understanding instead of fear, is the ultimate form of life. Unlike all this reality-denying crap our society is going though. We must face that cannot sustain saying we are what we aren't without destroying and dishonoring our inner selves which in their existence show we are focused on a lie in our conscious minds. We are special because of rules and boundaries with without we'd be undefined blobs of non-existence. We have our own unique wills, proof by our unique paths and desires through life. We can't BE the same. We can, however, live our best as our unique selves, and group labels DO NOT GET THERE. They only help guide the majority, not define it.I bought the CD for $50 after hearing the full album on Youtube, because afterward I knew this would speak to me for the rest of the time I have left on Earth (I'm 34, so I've got a lot if things go smoothy.) I wanted to honor the creators of their music. I may listen less as I get older, maybe even not at all for 20 or 30 years, but I know this transcends beyond into the timeless where it will always speak, at least to something, of what it means to be human, and it will be there for me to process the new revelations and emotions that lurk in the core of my spirit. Actually, that's how the Bible works, too, but this reaches a different area that only the vibration of music can go (including good timeless Christian music that goes deep into the same core of humanity). It helps transition one thing into another from the inside out, instead of the outside in. It took awhile, but my subconscious got there after being troubled by the unspoken emotions that had no words for a few weeks after first hearing this album.RIP Nujabaes and thanks to the rest of the era's Godfathers to have developed and fabricated such a solid, secure anchor into music that will reflect the pinnacle of the overlying musical artistry of the 1990s-2000s. It is amongst the best of what humanity has to offer, much like the soul and jazz Godfathers of the 1920s-1960s who dominated their time with lyrics that spoke to the soul, and the whackos of the 1980s that had real hit-and- miss masterpieces that I will always find timeless in their own right. There's always the greatest stuff, but you need to dig to find the best treasure.

Luv(sic) Hexalogy
I ordered this on December 10th and it arrived on December 16th, a week before the expected delivery date which was the 23rd. The two CD's come as advertised, and I would love to thank you Shing02 for re-releasing all of the Hexalogy on CD. :)Each track is as beautiful as I've heard over the years, and the CD quality of the songs are beautiful, the full versions of each song PLUS the Instrumentals on the second disk...that made me so happy as I have always wanted to buy the instrumentals of all the Luv(sic) series. Now I have the entire collection and Seba Jun still resonates from each track I listen to on the CD. Since I don't carry Vinyl's this is really amazing to own on CD thank you again Shing02 and I hope to see you in concert someday.Peace and Love,-Eric

love was put into this
i'm not just rating this 5-star bc i love the music. i'm rating it highly bc of the quality of thought put into designing the case. some people griping about it not being hard plastic, but that is actually a plus for me - the texture of the plastic jewel cases is cold, and this is warm music which the case design reflects. the art print is vibrant all over. the inside is printed with scans of the vocalist's (Shing02's) original lyric sheets when he was writing them. the booklet inside contains full lyrics in both english and japanese, along with affectionately written notes about each track with full respect to the main producer (Nujabes) which nearly brought me to tears.

A classic!
This project is a classic from the legendary nujabes, rip. It's a must have because the CD contains the entire hexalogy, remixes and the instrumenals plus an additional verse for pt.3 . The art cover inside and out is beautiful and perfect for aesthetic. It's worth it.

Shing02
Possibly one of the best albums I've purchased in a while. I'm usually one of those guys who buys things digitally, but sometimes if something is really touching then I'll buy a physical copy to always have. This is one of those moments. Every song is a hit. The remixes, the originals, even the extra song is amazing. If you're a fan of hip-hop, jazz, jazz hip-hop fussion, meaningful lyrics, or just overall great sounds then this is for you. Just listen to a few on youtube first to clarify, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
