Las Vegas Then and Now®

Excellent book about the history of Las Vegas compared to current days in Las Vegas. Wonderful write up and great photos. Highly recommend this book if you’re a Las Vegas lover.

For anyone who likes Las Vegas, this is a real find. The photos alone, in the usual format of putting the vintage photo on the left page with the corresponding new photo on the right, is good enough, but wow, the text is really informative, with lots of great Vegas stories and lore. I confess I often skip over the text in photo books like this, but it's so much fun to read, without being overblown, wordy or filled with Vegas boosterism. The author really did her homework. When I bought this, the paperback version wasn't out yet, so I bought the hardback, and boy, I'm glad I did. The second edition has a sticker saying "completely updated and revised" and it isn't kidding. Some of the "now" photos look like they were taken yesterday. By far the best book on Vegas I've seen. You won't go wrong with this. (I know, the tone of this review sounds like I'm a shill. Get the book and you'll see that I'm not!)

Great book

I ordered about 16 of these books for wedding gifts for my recent wedding. I really love the books and so did the guest. There are lots of pictures to show how Las Vegas has changed over time. I think most of the pictures are in black-and-white and look really authentic. And there is lots of information to tell about the story. They made really nice gifts for our Las Vegas wedding. The only reason I gave this a four star instead of a five star rating was because some of the books are bribed with slightly bent corners. It was a very small band and you couldn't really tell unless you were inspecting them closely Perhaps the books should have been packaged a bit better or stored better before shipping. Of course, most people wont need to inspect the book so thoroughly

Well written history of Las Vegas especially important for oldies who remember the "Rat Pack"!

I gave it as a gift to my friend who loves Vegas. It has tons of info and pictures about the city of "lost wages." I recommend it to anyone who loves Las Vegas and wants to know more about the city.

This book is simply great. If you're a fan of Las Vegas history, seeing the "before and after" pictures is great fun. Heck, just seeing the collection of "before" pictures is good enough, but when paired with a photo from the same location and viewpoint decades later (within reason...after all, things have changed!) allows the viewer to imagine all the changes and events that have gone on in the meantime. Your own *mental slideshow* really gets going when you spend an hour with this book. You can hear Frank and Deano singing in the background of your mind! I've had this book for a few years, still open it up and enjoy it, and I highly recommend it.

Great before and after photos, old times and today

Really interesting pictures and information. Got it for my Husband, who is quite into architecture. He was really surprised what some of the places we've been to have changed.

I love Las Vegas and have visited a few times, This book shows the 'then and now'. Lots of photos and stories from the past, which I find extremely interesting. A great book
