How long is this cable (end to end)?

Mine were 30" I needed longer, so I just put 2 together. Was still cheaper than the 5' cables. Quality was excellent.

Can the carabiner be removed?

Without breaking the cable, no it cannot. The point of the cable is to have the most secure connection between the steel wire and the carabiner, so that it can withstand high amounts of weight.

Is that a clip on one end.

Yes. To clip to loop on other end of cable.

how does this work? does the cable wrap around the fixture and the other loop go thru the carabiner? does the cable have to be taut? thanks

One end with carabiner to safely hook onto a fixture (ceiling or wall). The other end secured to an equipment e.g. a lightning. It is vertical with equipment downward, which counters the gravitational force.
