A+ quality construction stands up to weather!
Dang impressive. Traveled from Canada's cold to Tucson, Arizona where it was well over 100 degrees and included a very harsh summer desert sand storm with gusts of 50 mph. Some genius put the zipper in back under a sturdy flap so no dust or other things (like wind blown rain from the Rockies) or bird droppings or insect smooshed exoskeletons could get in or stick in the zipper teeth. The bag has a cinch belt system that was secure with no flapping and held steady going 80 mph in freeways through crazy interstate traffic in Salt Lake City. I kept track of my mileage historically as this is my regular driving route. Whether it was the bag or the wind- the bag may have lowered the miles per gallon by 4 gallons in 1200 miles. Better than expected. The zipper is super duty and has very strong extended pull straps so it is not hard to open. The bag itself is extremely thick tough and rubberized in feel.I bought the small bag for the top of our mini van. It is huge. It held 3 army duffle bags. A sleeping bag. Assorted rolled yoga matts. Gallon water jugs. And had room for dog food. You fill it after it is in place on top of your vehicle. Then zip strap and go. It is lockable. But we didn't lock ours.We did purchase the no slide matt for underneath. Yes it is similar to cupboard liners- but different- and the dimensions are much wider. It was well worth it. We really wanted a hard body roof system but this held more and was a couple hundred dollars cheaper. And now that it has been used we like it much better.

Best Purchase Ever!
I traded in my lease on my Nissan Rogue for a Subaru Crosstrek...the week before my family of 4 was to drive from Phila to Myrtle Beach. I realized that the trunk space was much smaller in the Crosstrek, as well as the back seat, which would mean I would have 2 very cranky girls during that long drive if they were going to have to share space with all our luggage. I researched and read reviews on several different types of rooftop bags, etc., and this one seemed to be the most favorable. This is definitely one of the best purchases I ever made. We had no problem figuring out how to attach the straps, etc. We were able to fit a medium size and small size suitcase in it, as well as a couple beach chairs, and a few other various bags (3 girls were going...we have a lot of stuff). We had no problems with noise, and my husband was going an average of 80 mph most of the way. I HIGHLY recommend this roofbag. We got the 11 cubic feet one, and it was plenty big and fit a ton of stuff. The best part is since it's a bag, we could fold it up easily enough for storage. LOVE it.

Useless in cool weather.
Amazon stated "take responsibility for this product". However being responsible means contact the buyer to help situation. Nothing done. Had I not attempted to use it prior to return deadline it would be gone. The bag should not be used in cool weather. From inside the house to the top of the car 37 degree F, the bag is unbendable. Imagine what it was at 20degrees. All flex points especially where folded from factory packaging show signs of deterioration. Similar to when plastic is bent/flexed multiple times. Being inflexible makes more than difficult to zip closed. So much force to close zipper around the corners seems likely to rip. I was glad to purchase an American made product and pay more than similar foreign made bags. Too bad for me and the company because I do not recommend anyone buy this unless it's for summer use.

9/10
I originally wanted to purchase the Cross Country RoofBag, but couldn't get one day shipping which is my fault for poor planning. I ordered the Explorer instead and wish I would have gotten the other one. While this is still a GREAT product I do regret to say that water did enter my bag. I bought the RoofBag because I moved from Florida to Texas and needed extra storage during my trip. It rained a good amount on my way out of Florida and when I unpacked the bag in New Orleans during a stop over I opened the bag and found water sitting in the bottom. My bag was fully zipped and locked, but somehow water seemed to find its way in. I, however, did not fill the bag to full capacity so maybe that's how water entered.I still believe this is a great product, as it was very secure on my Chevy Equinox in the 1,200 or so miles that I traveled with it on my car. If you do have the time to wait for shipping I would recommend the 100% waterproof product for a little extra money.

A+ roof bag for my move
I purchased this roof bag and the non-slip mat for my move from TX to CO on my 2016 Subaru Outback (built-in factory crossbars). I drove through 30 mph winds, snow, rain, freezing temperatures, and the bag stayed in great condition as well as my belongings! The nonslip mat, however, crinkled up under the rear side of the bag due to the wind, so I'm not sure how helpful that was. A couple driving behind me actually stopped by me, rolled their windows down, and asked me where I had gotten my roof bag because they had been behind me for ~30 miles and it didn't budge an inch. Really glad I purchased this bag for my move over a very expensive hard-top carrier. My mpg during my move was about 22 mpg (with a full, loaded trunk and roof bag of stuff). When I removed the roof bag, it went up to 30 (and I still have a few heavy items in the trunk), so it does affect your mpg a bit more than an aerodynamic hard-top. Overall - I'll be recommending this to anyone and everyone who is looking for a rooftop cargo carrier.
