Loose/slack turnhandle on lock case
I have one of these type of locks albeit with the deeper 60mm backset and it has been problem free for two years so thought I would buy this one with a 40mm backset for another door. Out of the box the latch seemed ‘frozen’ and operating the locking button did not release it. After some tries it eventually seemed to free itself. However now fitted there is a large amount of play in the lever. A quick check of my other same Yale type lock and confirmed it should be stiffer and more solid feeling.Phoned Yale CS and they confirmed it shouldn’t be like that and suggested to return to Amazon as within return window. I checked the mechanism, there is no screw to adjust it seems a manufacturing fault where the components have not been pressed/riveted together sufficiently? Ho hum.
