I was very much looking forward to receiving this book and I was not disappointed. When you have been teaching as long as I have, it's hard to find ways to keep what you are doing in the classroom fresh and exciting. I related to many of the ideas in this book and was inspired to continue taking risks and pushing those boundaries-regardless of what others think. I highly recommend this book to any educator who is trying to remain innovative and relevant.

This is one of those books that stays with you! I have read it multiple times since purchasing last year. It's one I recommend to all new educators. KDI forces me to remember my why, placing it at the forefront of every decision I make for students. Our students deserve us to come in every single day with our best foot forward. They deserve a safe place with engaging experiences and they deserve educators who want to be there. I wholeheartedly believe our students are the most important factor to our future, and they deserve no less than our very best. I love that Adam & Todd exude a passion for education and always put students first. This book is powerful, challenging, and 100% one of the best educational books I've ever read. Kids Deserve It is book full of heart, conviction and powerful ideas! It allows you to create a school worthy for kids! The authors utilize personal stories and experiences to drive home key ideas and concepts. The strategies shared in the book can easily be utilized in schools and other organizations.As an administrator, at an elementary school, we have taken many of the strategies from Kids Deserve It and implemented them into our school! The results have been phenomenal! It has had a profound impact on our students, staff and community! We feel that it has had the biggest effect on our school culture and relationships with all stakeholders.What is unique about these authors and the book is they live what they write! Adam Welcome and Todd Nesloney are personally committed to the Kids Deserve It conversation! A book that anyone in education must read. It's full of so many simple yet powerful ways to ensure we're doing all we can for our kids. I love how Todd and Adam share personal stories to back up/explain all of these ideas. It shows exactly why as educators we must push the boundaries and not accept no for an answer when we want to try something new.

Kids Deserve It! is a great motivational resource for any teacher experiencing classroom fatigue or feeling like they are plateauing in their career. It aims to remind us all why we became teachers in the first place: the students. Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome write from their hearts and their real classroom and administrator experiences giving the reader a well-rounded view of challenging conventional thinking from different leverage points. Although co-written, both Todd and Adam's voice is completely in sync and, as a reader, you are never distracted by the different narrators. There is such a fantastic rhythm to the prose, slowly reminding you that your students deserve your 100% as a teacher or administrator. I also appreciate that there is a huge social media component to this book (#KidsDeserveIt) allowing the reader to connect with the authors and other educators. There are great reflective questions at the end of each chapter that can be Tweeted out or just written down and discussed with others. All in all, a fantastic summer read!

After many years in the profession, this was one of the first books that got me back into reading educational books. This book helped reenergize me and also helped me grow through reflection at the end of each chapter. Due to this, I also became connected on Twitter and began participating in Twitter chats (*Never did I think I would be on Twitter!). The connections I have made since then have been life-changing! I highly recommend this book!

I loved the challenge this book gave me as an educator. It really shows you the extra effort is worth it, because our kids deserve nothing less! It is completely full of amazing ideas that you can recreate and make your own at your school and in your classroom. I also loved that it was written from an administrators (who were formerly teachers) point of view. I was encouraged by how involved they were with their staff AND students alike. This is a great read for any time of the year!!

All teachers and education stakeholders should read this book atleast once a year. This is my go to August book as I get ready for the new year and my go to book for any day I feel discouraged as a teacher. Plain and simple this book reminds us who matters in education and what it’s all about. THE KIDS.

A must read for all educators. I would highly recommend this book for pre service teachers, the ideas, the stories that are presented provide plenty opportunity to continue or expand what you are already doing in the classroom.
