A great addition to my laptop
I had the smaller version of this before (with no problems over the 2-3 years I'd been using it) , and as it was almost full I decided to upgrade to the larger one. And the price had come down since I last looked. These cards are very easy to use, and once plugged in I tend to forget that it's there. Obviously data access isn't as quick as the built in drive, but something like this is (IMO) really for storing less frequently used files. The card is fairly easy to remove when you want to change cards or use the port for something else, but I don't think that is something one would do very often. An excellent product.

Fails in short time
I have used the 128Gb versions for a coupe of years with good results. The 256Gb version is not the same experience. First one failed after a few uses. Becomes unreadable and unwritable.A replacement was sent to me very efficiently, but this one failed within a day. It is not my misuse, all my other SDXC cards work fine in my MacBook. It must be a faulty batch I guess.I've not sent this one back as I do not want to waste another day getting a replacement up and running and worrying it will fail at any moment.I've purchased an alternative. Fingers crossed.

Wonderful Device
With some reservations, I just purchased one of these (128GB) for my 2012 MBP Retina. The laptop has a 250GB internal SSD drive, which I have rapidly filled with photos and music. My intention was to move my iTunes library from the internal disc to this SD card. Thus freeing up 120GB of the internal drive. On opening the device, and inserting it I was surprised to see it fits just about flush. It protudes approximately 0.5mm from the aluminium body, which is fantastic. It looks really good. The next step is to format the thing to Mac OS Extended Journalled filesystem, which takes seconds using the Disk Utility. Then I migrated the iTunes folder to it. I was expecting to see very poor performance, having read some previous comments. I'll start by saying that the 120GB was copied over in approximately 50 minutes. Which I don't think is at all bad. Using iTunes after this? Well, on album view, if you scroll REALLY FAST, it sometimes lags with displaying album art. Thats about it. Performance is perfectly adequate for holding your music.I really like this. Its a relatively inexpensive way to breath a bit of life and squeeze a few more years from the laptop (which is still the best computer I have ever used).

Great Performance, Reasonable Price
I had my laptop stolen the day after I installed this, so didn't get to spend a lot of time with it.It fit nearly 100% flush (albeit a tiny extrusion which is necessary). It looked the part, by not being visible. It's more expensive than it needs to be because it's the only one on the market.Performance was great - 90mbps as stated. It does just pop up as an SD card on your desktop - this is fine, but doesn't boot up instantly with the laptop - so essentially, using it as a HDD extension could prove problematic if you intend on using it as a place for your Dropbox files (via Boxifier) etc.Hope this helps.

MacBook Pro Transcend 256gb Flush SD Storage
This Transend card fits almost flush with a MacBook Pro 15” laptop, it’s fast at data transfer and plays movies flawlessly that I’ve copied onto it. Highly recommend to someone running low on storage, I’ve gone from 500gb to 756gb storage.
