Do I wrap this up the whole trunk?

To prevent sun scald, damage from rodents or mammal feeding and bark bruising from string trimmers, instructions are as follows; 1. Start at the base of the tree, wind wrap around trunk and overlapping, working upward to the top until reaching the branches. 2. Secure wrap by tucking end into the last overlap row or using masking tape or light twine that will decompose naturally. For use with an insect barrier product, this banding is ideal for protecting the tree trunk by allowing minimal contact with the tree trunk.

Does this product to work for lantern flies?

Or, use it with Tree Tanglefoot Insect Barrier to protect against gypsy moths, cankerworms, vine weevils and other crawling insects, including lantern flies, all season long.

Would this make it harder for raccoons to climb my tree because the sticky stuff and the tangle guard?

I used this mainly for the control of tent caterpillars. I think if you put several wraps to make a wider sticky area it could work. Try a raccoon shield like people use on wood duck houses.

So is this just a tape? Does one have to buy the tub of stickly goo separately?

Yes this is just a paper medium to wrap around a tree. You buy the tacky paste to spread on the tape. It does work great together!!
