Smart Table Mate TV Foldable Adjustable Tray (except PO BOX and military address)

Another piece of Chinese junk. When will I ever learn? I went by product reviews which were mixed. I have to say that this table is so chintzy that I am afraid to use it to eat off, which was the main reason I bought it, for fear the dishes will fall off and break (and I only use my good dinnerware), I might get burned, and there will be a mess to clean up.The biggest reason it is so flimsy is that the (very lightweight) table surface is held up by an extremely flimsy and thin adjustable bent metal rod which catches into 2 plastic jaws set 11" apart on the bottom of the tabletop in one of three positions. The length of the metal rod that connects with the plastic jaws is too short (12") so you have to get it exactly right and then hope it doesn't shift left or right while you're using it because there is only one inch of extra length. The tabletop itself slides on the metal tubing instead of locking at a point in the middle; therefore, if it slides anywhere after you have adjusted the table, like if you bump it with your legs, the metal rod holding it in position will also move and could very likely move right out of the bracket for the position you have it in. (Just yesterday I was at a neighbor's house and she had the exact same table but several years old. The rod on her table was much thicker and sturdier, and fit snugly into the plastic jaws. Hers did not move or fall when we tried bumping it. This could explain why some people reviewing this table were happy with it. They have an earlier, better-made version).The tabletop surface is too slippery and the lip around the edges of the table are not high enough to prevent something from sliding off the surface. I hoped to use it also as a book or laptop surface but I am just too scared to use it at all.If you do buy this table be very careful when unwrapping it. I had to pull the plastic around the legs off in pieces because I couldn't get it off in one piece, and the pieces of styrofoam broke and then my cat clawed the box. Unfortunately the packaging has to be in perfect shape if you send it back and if not there is a restocking fee so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to send it back. I am planning to try using some clear duct tape on the metal rod to thicken it, hoping I can salvage it.Bottom line, I won't ever buy a product with more than one bad review in the future.***I am adding to my review about 5 weeks later. I decided to put white woven tape around the metal rod where it fits into the plastic jaws to increase the thickness of it. It is now thicker and doesn't pop out as easily. I used a pliable tape, not scotch or masking tape. I also put tape around the metal tubing on both sides of where the tabletop attaches so it can't move left or right. I used the table today for my notebook computer. So far, so good. I'll change my review to 2 stars because the table is usable if you go to the trouble of modifying it. I still don't think it's worth the price and I still won't put anything heavy on it.

I bought this product for an elderly neighbor. Unfortunately the adjustable top holding bar just sort of slides into 3 different open hooks on the bottom of the tray for adjustments. There is no way to secure them into any one position. If you have it in the flat position (as she would always use it for eating) and pull it toward you, lifting even very slightly to slide, the holding bar pulls right out of the hooks and the top will no longer be supported at all. She would end up dumping her hot food in her lap. My solution was to drill tiny holes in the bottom of the plastic tray supports and wire the bar into place as that is the only position she really needs.Possibly for someone younger who wants to change the level easily and is alert to this issue (which they would realize very quickly) this would be OK - but certainly not for a 90 year old).

I ordered this for my semi-yearly knitting retreats and it has worked out very well. It is not the best made out there but it works. I will keep using it as I continue to go to my retreats.

I actually use this table for my laptop and work from home. It moves easily on carpet, if pushing forward/backward from a stationary position. Very easy to adjust height. Ability to expand table top would be perfect!. Table top material can be somewhat unsteady and also difficult to clean. All in all, a good table. Would purchase another at reasonable price.

This folding table is not the same as are other ones. The name table mate II is not displayed on the front of the table . The bar that holds the table up is very cheaply made. Compare the bar of the older folding tables, it is very thin and difficult to use.

It's so easy to set up, I didn't use the directions to assemble it! No really I didn't use the directions, because they did not send the directions with the table;so I winged it.This table came early, had free shipping, great price and it actually services it's purpose. I say I struck gold, by buying this table, because it is well worth it.

we bought one of these for friends about a year ago and they raved about it, so we finally ordered one for ourselves. it was delivered on the date promised and it'll be one of those things we'll wonder how we ever got along without. i wouldn't hesitate to order from this company in the future.

I already had one of these table and wanted another. My husband and I like to eat in our family room and regular tv trays just don't move in close enough and food can end up on the furniture of floor. The way the legs on this table are set up, you are able to pull the table right up to where you are sitting and it catches all the crumbs. (especially nice for my not so neat hubby). Came quickly, would not have ordered it if it hadn't been free shipping. It's not the sturdiest table in the world but it does the job!
