Would you worry about weight of this lens on an eos rp lens mount as a walk-around lens?

Not as long as you carry and mount your lens properly. I would not mount my camera and this lens to my tripod using the tripod mounting point on the camera. Rather, I would use the included tripod mounting bracket included with the lens and mount the lens to the tripod. Since the camera (485g) weighs much less than the lens (1,070g), this will decrease the pressure on the lens mount. In a similar fashion, when shooting hand-held, I always make sure to support the lens with one hand on the barrel and the other hand on the camera. When carrying the camera on a strap with this lens attached, you can use the locking switch on the right hand side of the lens to prevent the lens from telescoping out while you walk. Just make sure to flip the little switch back to the unlocked position before you try to zoom the lens. Note, Canon has the locking switch set-up so that it can be engaged only when the lens is zoomed all the way in to 70mm. It is not intended to "lock" the lens at any given focal length. While I haven't tried it myself, I'm guessing that trying to force the switch into the locked position while at some other focal length besides 70mm or trying to zoom the lens while the locking switch is set could damage the switch. I'll let someone else experiment with that on a $2700 piece of glass. In terms of general comfort, this lens is much lighter than its EF mount equivalent. I have an EOS R, not the RP, but the weight is just about the same between the two bodies (RP=485g vs R=660g). With a decent camera strap, I comfortably carry this lens around for hours as my main lens. It takes phenomal pictures and the f2.8 across the full range of focal lengths lets me shoot in low light conditions without having to jack the ISO or shoot long shutter speeds (although both of these issues also are addressed by several other features of the lens and image sensor). It's just a great lens.

The seals may wear off over time but careful handling may add to the affectivity of the weatherproofing.
