Yank in the Raf [VHS]

...this 1941 film did a lot in its day to interestAmericans in the plight of our British cousins atthe beginning of World War II. It is entertainment,but with air combat footage that adds to its reality.Betty Grable and Tyrone Power are attractive andengaging. Now that we are once again sadly engagedin war, it is of special interest to have the chanceto look at ourselves sixty years ago and reflect uponthe similarities and the differences. Betty Grablewas a symbol of American womanhood back then...she wasmore than a pin up...she was a working woman and a verypopular entertainer. Certainly she is another reasonthis film is well worth watching.

I saw this movie in my early childhood and still enjoy it. Tyrone Power and Betty Grable were both favorites of mine. They both were tremendously popular during this era, and, although this was the only movie they made together, they definitely had some chemistry between them on screen. Based in Great Britain, Betty is a WAF and Tyrone is an RAF fighter pilot. She does some singing and dancing, he does some flying and philandering... All in all, a very enjoyable little movie!!

I have been getting most of the movies related to the Battle of Britain. This is one of the weaker ones but I still enjoyed it.

There was relatively little battle footage, and mostly Tyrone Power pursuing Betty Grable. He was a real misogynistic abusive guy who emotionally abused Grable, but to whom she always went back no matter how he misbehaved. Incredibly bad.

I always wanted this video for my wwII collection.

This film is special to my family not only because of the great legends who star in it, but also because one of the pilots was an uncle who was killed shortly after. Real people!

If you're interested in the war, the RAF, American participation before the declaration of the war, or just want to watch an old-style romantic movie this is for you.

American war film trying to be British! too many errors! american cars,american clothes,american aircraft(Bostons) bombing Berlin! american buildings! and what did they see in Betty Grable! short little legs & the chorus line all have fat legs!

Well a bit hammy but take tyrone and betty were not exactly in comfort zone ggod yarn

An enjoyable tale of US meets Brits. Anyone who likes the stories of this part of history should be pleasantly entertained. For aviation enthusiasts there are good sequences that are not the standard stock fare that we often see.
