Really enjoyed reading this well researched study of an amazing group of people whose history has rarely been examined. Obviously, these hearty ancestors had neither time nor wherewithal for writing journals and publishing the history of their struggles. So grateful that Dr. Bosch put forth the effort to record these events and statistics for posterity. These people were truly admirable, and embody the concept of survival against all odds.

I have greatly enjoyed this book. I may have a grandfather that could have been a German born in Russia. I need to do more research.

My wife's family history is of the same German people who immigrated from Russia to North Dakota. This is a very informative read covering the many circumstances and hardships from the trip over to settling into a new life.

This book is really interesting. Bought as a Christmas gift for someone who had German-Russian . Thinking I might want to buy another one as I one side of my family were German Russians also.

Love reading the Volga German history and seeing the old pictures.

This was a gift for my mother who has done research in this area because this is our heritage. She loved the book and said it filled in some blanks for her.

Well- written and concise. The author is a mathematician who beautifully reduces a complicated story to its essentials.Highly recommended for anyone who has German-Russian ancestry.
