Greg lemond's complete book of bicycling (A Perigee book)

Too dated
This book is odd in that it covers every aspect of cycling from a biography of Greg LeMond to the history of cycling and everything in between. Since it was first published in the eighties, bike design, science and technology have moved on a lot, making a lot of the book too much out of date to be of great interest.By far the most interesting part for me was the chapter on bike fit. The so-called Greg LeMond method - actually devised not by him, but by his French team manager, Cyrille Guimard - is still considered by many to be the best starting place for determining saddle height; that is, multiplying your inseam (floor to crotch) by 0.883 and applying the result to the distance from the centre of the cranks to the top of the cupped part of the saddle. As it was based on the stack height of the shoes and pedals of the time - and 170-millimetre cranks -, you may have to amend the height accordingly. If you want to read the story of Greg LeMond, there are likely more informative books out there - likewise cycle history, diet, exercise, etc.
