Can these be glued onto the back of a shell?

If it is an iron shell, it can be sucked up.

Can anyone share tips for ways to separate them without hurting my fingertips and tearing my nails?

Possibly wear thin rubber gloves or have someone separate them for you then put them individually on a smaller piece of metal so you can slide them off one at a time when needed
