Sweet Obsession (Ruthless Games Book 1)

This isn’t your typical billionaire bad boy trope. It’s dark obsession, a twisted game, soul deep friendship, and lots of excitement. I am so pleasantly surprised. Getting ready to read book 2 now. Oh- heads up. It IS a cliffhanger which I usually hate, but I don’t mind it this time.

Sweet Obsession by Callie Rose starts off with a bang! It has mystery and intrigue from the first few chapters at the very beginning and had me reading on with excitement.Who is this man with "eyes of earth and fire"? He's beautiful and mysterious and carries an "air" about him that pull her in like no other has ever done before.This man, with his two companions, head towards the backside alley of the club. The curiosity is too much to ignore, and she just had to follow them. The need to talk to them... to know who they are.This "curiosity almost killed the cat".She sees a car pull up and a gun point at her mysterious man. Without even thinking, she does the unbelievable and selfless action that stuns the 3 men. She runs in front of the shooter and is hit with three-gun shots that bring her down to the ground.Feeling the pain. Feeling wetness of the blood trickling to the ground. The last thing she sees are the 3 mysterious men as her vision fades away.Two and a half years after that fateful day, with 3 gun-shot wounds permanently scarred on her body and part of an arm missing, she is saved by these same 3 men from a mugger. With shock at seeing them again, she's puzzled by their surprise appearance after all these years. Plagued with nightmares, there was no way she could mistake who they were. Why now?She slowly realizes that the mysterious men didn't just appear out of nowhere.They've been watching her...stalking her...learning all about her...protecting her...saving her...Why is she so drawn to them? What game are these people playing? Who can she trust? Can she walk away?I enjoyed reading this book. It definitely had intrigue and mystery that kept my attention. I feel invested and the cliff hanger had my heart palpitating.I'm looking forward to reading the next book and find out what happened in the end of book 1.This is book 1 of a trilogy from The Ruthless Games Series by Callie Rose and ends with a cliffhanger. Luckily though, book 2 and 3 are available now too.

Y’all, what a start to this series.<b>As per usual, my review will have some small spoilers</b>First, let me say that I LOVED our main female lead, Ayla. She’s so tough on the outside, and will do absolutely anything to keep anyone from viewing her as weak. But she’s soft on the inside. She hurts. She gets her feelings hurt. She feels alone. She feels worthless. You ache for her, for the life she’s had to live. But even though she might be hurting on the inside, she’ll be damned if she lets anyone know.Our guys are great. We have the usual one guy who is serious and obsessed with her, the one who seems happy go lucky and smooth as hell, and the broody one who seems to not want anything to do with her. Marcus is five alarm H O T and boy will he have you sweating. His absolute obsession with Ayla is madness, yet beautiful. I want my own Marcus, Jesus he can heat up the pages. He would do anything for her, but one thing he won’t do, is let her go. And I’m totally here for a possessive alpha male. Theo is smooth and calm personified. Ryland is broody and mysterious. We’ve only seen things get real serious with Marcus so far, and I’m excited to see things heat up with Theo and Ryland in the next book.A little backstory: 2 and a half years ago, Ayla made the selfless decision to jump in front of a bullet to protect a man she didn’t even know. Present time, we have that same man and his sidekicks popping back up in her life and making her wonder if they ever even truly left her life, even if she didn’t know they were there. We watch her deal with PTSD, flashbacks, and panic attacks related to the incident. We watch her go from wanting these men to butt the hell out of her life… to not knowing what she would do without them, because they’ve somehow ended up as permanent fixtures in her life. We don’t know much about the guys and what they do for a living. We obviously know they’re involved in some shady shite and Ayla doesn’t ask too many questions. I thought it would bother me that she didn’t try to learn more about them, but Callie Rose wrote the storyline so flawlessly that it makes sense WHY Ayla didn’t want to know more. She didn’t want them to stay in her life, she wanted to go back to her life of solitude, so she didn’t want to know more than she needed to. But once she decided she needed them, all hell broke loose and at that point she knew she needed answers, and she got them.I NEVER expected where this storyline was going. The whole idea of “The Game” was actually brilliant. Like with all RH novels, you have to suspend reality a little, but I found myself able to believe this storyline pretty easily.As usual, Callie Rose’s character development is on point. You feel like you know these characters so well (minus Theo and Ryland at this point, but we will get to them in the next book). You can understand the actions of these characters because Callie puts you in their heads so well, which to me is hard to do since this is only in Aylas perspective. But she did it. And she did it well.Warning, this book ends on a killer of cliffhanger, but THANKFULLY, this series is completed, so we don’t have to wait for the next book to find out what happens.Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK!!*I did NOT receive an ARC for my review, nor do I know the author personally, I’m just a fan of her work after randomly coming across her Kings of Linwood academy series. This book has an interesting plot. I know it’s a series but it needs way more characterization. There are also some plot holes that make the game a little unrealistic. Hopefully more explanation will be in book 2.

This book is a really good read. The tension, the action, The Spence it's all really killer. The characters are awesome, and I didn't see where this book was going but man it went in a really cool way. Hope you enjoy this I did. On to the next one.

Sucks you in. Although it was easy to see her safety unravel with her friends phone call. I also hate cliffhangers.

This book gave me all feels! I finished it within hours and can’t wait to dive into the next one. The relationship between the 4 is explosive.

This is so far the most intense plot I have read in which I really believe what the characters feels (instead of thinking they are high in drugs XD)

Couldn't put the book down... It just got me hooked from start till the end... And now I need to read the next one to find out what happened to the boys 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥

Ok this is not what I was expecting to read 🥰 I mean it starts off so slow I was even debating I should carry on but let me tell you it’s worth it. I should of known Callie Rose wouldn’t let us down ❤️Best action in a while 😜Our sweet innocent FMC Ayla starts off noticing the guy with the unusual eyesOne blue and one brownShe’s drawn to him as soon as she sees himWhat was suppose to be a smoke in the alley behind a bar turned into a night Ayla will never forgetShe’s living her life by trying to not catch any bodies attentionShe doesn’t want to be noticed and I think that has a lot about her past when she was 15She lives by a simple routine, trying to survive for awhileWithout giving too much awayWhat happened in that alley several years ago comes back to haunt her daily lifeStalkers and what I think is a reminder of the purge in a way hehe it’s got a good twist, hot sexy men and some hot steamy timesI’m excited to see how book 2 goesIt’s definitely a must read from me 10/10 😁
