Kohler Part GP876851 Rite-Temp Mixer and Pressure-Balancing Unit Kit, Black

Parts fit perfectly and were easy to install. Only needed pliers and a Phillips Screwdriver

I can’t speak to the longevity, only the installation, which was great. I have no idea which model my old shower valve was, nor whether I really needed the pressure balancing unit or the mixing valve, so I replaced both with this kit. I just knew my old valve was Kohler and I couldn’t get very hot water from the tub spout, and the water temp was kind of bouncing around. The PBU on this kit looks a little different than my old one, with a slightly different shape and the new one has oval rear holes vs round. I did some research and found this was all normal and by design. Mine had a white threaded tube that goes on the outside of the valve (for the handle to screw onto). I had to search forums to learn that this snaps off with a little pressure from a flathead screwdriver from the bottom. Then it push-snaps onto the new valve. All in all, straightforward installation without any hitches. Works great, no problems. Consistent water temp, hot is back, and no leaks when off.

We had a leaking bathtub faucet , went to a hardware store to find out they don’t sell parts for Kohler bathtub faucets, so instead of ordering the parts from their website and wasting a lot more money , we decided to order from Amazon for way cheaper. It’s been about 3 weeks or so and it’s been working perfectly ! No leaks, no sounds of running water like our old parts did. If I can rate more than 5 stars I would. Very easy to install too

My husband installed two of these and it fixed our regulation issues, but we don't seem to get a good selection for heat. Only the top inch of the handle has heat option, the other 3/4+ of the handle is a variety of cold. I'm not sure where this issue is from, but at least now I can pick my temperature and it stays there.
