Dunlop Guitar Capo (37084055001)

Works well. A bit stiff.
It's a bit stiff and hard to use, but it gets the job done nicely. So far it doesn't seem to be marring my mahogany guitars finish, which is very important. It works well on both my acoustic and electric, even though it says its made for acoustic.

Great for classical....not for steel
The Capo is flat and therefore works well on a flat fingerboard (classical). Because it doesn't have a radius (like steel guitar fingerboards) you have to be careful with the placement to avoid buzzes. Also, the spring tension is awfully strong...too strong

Best one I ever bought
I bought cheaper capos that look the same, but they started to buzz within a year. This one is super durable, has great grip, still easy to open up with the long clamp handle.

NICE GUITAR CAPO
Very good guitar capo. The spring is a little stiff which makes it difficult sometimes to apply on the neck of the guitar. Once in place, it works just fine.

Good, but...
Definitely a Capo intended for medium-lighter strings, but it could still work with heavy. I used this on my acoustic with 0.13-56 gauge phosphor bronze strings and would get a buzz if I didn't align it right, especially on the lower frets.

Gets the job done!
Purchased for use on my two guitars (acoustic and electric), probably long after I should have gotten a capo.PROS:* Functional - gets the job done effectively with varying neck widths* Aesthetics - I got the black version, which does a good job of not standing out on my black bodied guitars. I can tag it to the head and it can plausibly go unnoticed if I never reach for it.* Strength - capo has handled light through medium-heavy steel strings well after repeated use (months). I've seen complaints that this and other capos are "too tight," but would you prefer the alternative of "too soft" and have a paperweight instead?* Economy - this felt in the short and long term like a worthwhile purchase for the cost.CONS:* Does not play my guitar for me? Honestly I can't think of any real cons!

Too short!
The Capo says it's for acoustic but it will fall short on a classic guitar. Only for electric-acoustic but those generally have a radio's and this capo don't.

My go to capo.
As an avid picker, this has always been my go to capo. Apparently, other pickers dig them as well, because it seems I have to replace a "missing" Dunlop capo at least once a year. The spring tension on these baby's is tight & reliable. I love it, my guitar loves it, & you'll love it too.

Would send it back if i could be bothered - Do not purchase this capo.
Surprised by this Capo, of course being Dunlop the quality is a cut above the likes of Tiger but there's a major flaw. I've tested this with an affinity strat and a standard size acoustic and it's no good for either. Sure the quality is good, and it's a strong grip but its not in tune. I have to attach the capo, then tune the guitar where as a cheap tiger capo doesn't affect the intonation. Really disappointed with Dunlop for this product, maybe if my neck was extremely thin it would work ok, but if anything mine are thiner than average so i wouldn't risk this again. So unless you like to tune your guitar, attach the capo then tune again i wouldn't purchase this Capo.

Horrible
I could weep. I’ve had a JD capo (same model) for over 30yrs and used no other. One day it just disappeared. So easy decision, buy another! So a smart new chrome one arrives and I cannot open it. I have used hand grip exercise clamps that had more give. Crazy! Either a miss on the batch testing or the design had changed for the worse. I feared getting another so returned and got another brand a third of the price and better. So sad. I miss my old capo. I hope JD reads this, but I doubt it. Please be better!

Good capo - minimal 'tune' distortion
This is a nice piece of kit. A capo is a capo, is a capo? Well, probably not. They do vary. The build quality of this one is clearly very good. The spring looks and feels like it will last for ever and the paintwork is solid. Most importantly, the capo fits my guitar wherever on the neck I need it too (my trusty old Shubb capo needs adjusting on one of my new guitars as the neck is tapered). Clearly whether the guitar stays in tune with a capo on is down to two things: (1) the guitar itself and (2) the capo. This capo will not let you down. I doubt it anyway.

Not made for ovation?
Got this for a new Ovation celebrity guitar. It does not do the job perfectly and takes some adjustment - must be the Ovation shape I guess. Well made and light but the fit to this particular guitar model is awkward and takes some asdjustment and fiddling to get right. Looking for another....
