Good information but I was disappointed it does not include maps of each museum.

This guide is good if you're looking for basic info on all the smithsonian museums. It also includes a map of downtown dc with museum locations. I gave it 3 stars because the guide is small, like it's meant to be carried during your visit, but it doesn't have enough info to be used like that.

We are planning on a vist to DC in September, we wanted has much information about the sites as possible.

Good book. Maps inside front and back cover are easy to use. Lots of information and some good photos. Breaks down what to expect at each facility, easily sorted and easy to find what you care about. Even if you use it as a coffee table book and never go, it's a fun read to thumb to a section and read up.

Excellent introduction to the myriad Smithsonian "organizations". Given that you can't "do" D.C. without at least seeing one (and, hopefully, many more) of them, this guide serves both as an invaluable reference and great souvenir.
