Q: Does this have a dhcp server? can it perform nat (network address translation) or any other router functions?

DHCP server is a function handled by routers, this is not a router, it is a switch.

Q: How much noise does this switch make?

The non-PoE model is silent, but the PoE model does have fans.

Q: Can i connect to the switch from my nighthawk x10-ad7200 r9000 router using the one of the 10g sfp+ ports on the switch?

Your router can only handle 1GB throughput so the 10GB won't provide anything extra other than giving you 8 ports to use for your network and using the SFP port for the WAN connection. If you wish to use the SFP with a RJ45 connection, you will need to purchase Fibermall SFP-GE-TS-HPA . I have purchased these and tested to work with that switch.

Q: Can I run my modem directly in to this switch or do I need a router in front of it?

If its a modem / router you’d be fine. You need some sort of router and I’d make sure it has at least a basic firewall.
