Great camera for laptop and travel
On/Off transmitting: I haven't tested the quality of this camera yet on either mic or video, but I really like how twisting the lens will turn it red ( as well as the little LED "fin" on top turning red ) which says it's not transmitting video, even though it reports as a camera still and doesn't disconnect from USB. The video just comes out blank. The way you know the camera is transmitting is the little LED "fin" on top lighting up as green. Break-down: A super nice feature is the break-down where the camera itself which can be separated from the "clip" at the camera's 1/4 hole mount. This cuts down on the bulkiness in your laptop bag, where it's only the thickest as it is wide. I also really like the 1/4 camera mount hole when you break down the clip from the camera, meaning if I ever need to mount this on a tripod, I'm good to go.

Amazing picture quality and an unbeatable price.
Wow, the camera is far better than I expected. Compared to my Logitech C920, it is slightly better in picture quality and way better in colour science. My skin tone and the rest of the room/background look way better. Of course the poly is 10x better than built in laptop webcam. I'm not sure why these are selling for $15 but they easily deliver quality worth $50-$75. I also like the built in USB port in the back of the webcam which I use for my mouse dongle. The privacy shutter is also super cool because you can visually see when the camera is off and in privacy mode. The camera works plug and play with my windows 11 laptop with no need to install anything. Windows 11 built in webcam settings work flawlessly to change zoom, focus, brightness, contrast etc. You can easily turn off auto focus in the settings if you prefer. I have not used the built in microphone too extensively as I use a headset so I can't provide in depth feedback on it.

Excellent Webcam, but One Shortcoming for 4.5 Stars!
I had to replace a webcam I purchased only a few months ago because it died. After reading several reviews (and asking my very knowledgeable son-in-law), I decided to buy the Poly Studio P5 and spend a little more than I had figured. It was well worth the extra few dollars! The camera was simple to install (with one exception; read on below). Downloading the Poly software from the website was easy, and the camera was working fine within a few minutes. The image is sharp, and the auto-adjust works quite well in bright, dim, and in-between lighting. If you're not using a green screen, you can eliminate background items you don't want on the video by using the zoom feature to crop the image. I've been told by those with whom I've used the webcam that the built-in microphone is also quite good and my voice was clear and easily understood. Three additional nice touches are the built-in privacy shutter, the hidden USB port at the bottom rear of the camera (under the removable shell), and the magnetic latching system which allows you to remove the camera from the mount if you need to show something specific. I would have given the Poly Studio P5 a five-star rating except for one thing: the length of the USB cable, which is all of 1.3 meters/4 feet 3 inches. Most webcams have a USB cable of 5 feet, and the 9 inches difference made the cable too short to reach my computer tower. While Poly does not recommend using an extension, the half-meter extension cable which I had was just the right length and works perfectly. Other than this one "shortcoming," I would recommend this camera without any reservations!

Good video quality, Great price, Bad microphone
Having used dozens of Poly and Plantronics products, including the Poly EagleEye Enterprise cameras & Poly Studio speakers, I had high hopes for this Studio P5 camera. Video worked without any hiccups out of the bag (it did not come in a box). There was no need to install any drivers, both my Mac and Windows computers recognized the camera right away; including the Zoom, Webex and Team apps. However, the microphone was a bust, not a "pro". No matter how loud I spoke, no audio was picked up by the microphone. Tapping on the microphone seemed to prompt the mic to detect a signal but no voice was detected. Even after updating the P5 to the latest firmware version 2.0 and restarting the camera, the microphone still did not work. Returned it.

Very good one
The image quality, realistic colors, zoom, focus, brightness l are surprisingly good and fully meet all my requirements for any meeting. Instantly connectung to various Win11 laptops, with USB Type-C adapter or to older Win.10 PC without adapter. I haven't encountered any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. This webcam features an orange mechanical privacy shutter behind the protective lens and completely shuts off the camera by rotating the ring on the front of the housing, accompanied by an LED indicator on the top. IMO, it’s very convenient since the bright shutter complements the indicator light. The housing is grey with dark speckles – not ideal, as I would have preferred a solid black. However, that’s definitely not a deal breaker. It looks really nice tho. Also, there is a standard 1/4" tripod thread on the bottom of the case. Bottom line: Really good device. Also, at this price point, the only other options are several no-name webcams that are completely incomparable in quality to this one. Definitely recommended!

A solid webcam that works great with Mac OSX.
I recently purchased a M4 Mac Mini and needed a webcam for my desk. I don't do video conferencing often on my personal Mac, but do need to on occasion. I picked this up and it works great. I did need to use a USB A to C adapter which I had onhand. If you don't have one they are inexpensive and available on Amazon. I installed the Mac version of the Poly software and updated the camera to the latest firmware. It works great for web conferencing, photo booth, etc. The Microphone seems to do a good job based on reports from others I have chatted with. The camera itself is prety compact and is stable sitting on top of my monitor. It looks better than a generic webcam and even reminds me a little of the old Apple Eyesight cameras.

Manual says it shows mute status -- but it doesn't
I'm trying to standardize my two Macs on Poly Lens software. My main Mac has a Savi 8200 and a P15 camera while my laptop has a Voyager 5200 BT headset and this P5. The P5 has a hidden connecter for the 5200's dongle and comes off of the laptop screen mount so that you can put it on a tripod. The screen mount is small and much more versatile in terms of adjustment angle than the cameras from that other vendor which also sells mice and keyboards. The instructions state that the P5 uses its LED to show video offline / video online / headset mute status. Well, as Meatloaf says, "Two out of three ain't bad." With the shutter closed, the LED is off. Open it and it turns white. Enable video in your favorite conference software and it turns green. However, mute your mic and there is no indication. The P15 LED turns red. The P5 doesn't change. I've reported this to Poly and we'll see if it gets fixed. As for the video, it is pretty good even with a strong backlight and the Poly Lens software gives you a lot of control over it -- except that it is widescreen and cannot be changed to 4:3 -- which is useful if you want to be a talking head with a PPT next door to you since that makes more room. Would I reccomend. Yes indeed.

The microphone is terrible
I bought this hoping that I would be able to have one device that could work both as a webcam and microphone, but the microphone was so bad I sent the P5 back. I don't know if I was doing something wrong, but I tried the P5 on two laptops with the same result; no audio pick up and when it did it was unintelligible. Plantronics have clearly tried to up date their marketing so they aren't seen as a supplier of low end products, and that it what convinced me to buy the P5, but the product was still low end quality. Avoid the Poly P5.

Solide 360° Webcam
