I bought one of those seed planters. I did the direction put seed in receptacle and waited. I added water ok. Got a couple sprouts but then nothing

Less than 50% Success Rate
I really wanted to grow my own cumin, so bought these thinking it should have good success. Less than half of the seeds ever germinated, probably closer to a third actually did.
