VERY Sensitive radio
I purchased this because I liked the look of it.I have been an avid shortwave listener for around 40-45 years, I have quite a few shortwave portables and 3 "serious " sw receivers, my favourite portables are the Eton E5 and the Sangean 909x2. I use my Drake shortwave Receiver for comparison, bear in mind the Drake was £1399.00p.I ran this pl-330 and covered all the bands from 150khz to 29.999mHz. I can honestly say the pl-330 could get everything that the Drake could, with the exception of SSB. It was unable to match the Drake, although having said that, it could get all the SSB frequencies that the Drake could, it just couldn't match the Drakes audio and selectivity. I am unable to fathom out how Tecsun can produce this radio for far less than £100.00p.This is a very serious piece of equipment for the money. It is ideal for beginners and seasoned professionals alike.I am unable to fault it at all.

Excellent value for money
The Tecsun PL-330 is packed with features that were only available on professional receivers many years ago, technology has really moved on since then. It is amazing value for money and I have no regrets. The sound quality is good considering the small size of the speaker but works really well with the supplied earphones which I use most of the time, the battery lasts quite a long time on a full charge. In terms of sensitivity and selectivity it couldn't be better for a small portable even the dynamic range is better than other larger portables. I wish the step button was a little bit bigger as it can be a bit fiddley at times but nothing is perfect. On the whole great.

Fantastic Radio!
Amazed at the quality of the audio on this tiny radio. Perfect on all bands. I'm sure most people reading this review will have done their research already via youtube etc.. and all i can add to their highly positive reviews is yes, buy the PL-330 right now.. it is a game changer. Mine came with the chinese label on the radio itself (which i was hoping for) but the manual is English.Superb SWL device.. very happy!

Could be better
As usual with these Tecsun radios FM is superb, shortwave acceptable and medium wave not great although better than some. Medium wave antenna can be switched to the whip from the ferrite bar but too much 'noise' where I live for this to of use. SSB works OK. Long wave doesn't really work well on this type of radio, an average big old 1960's analogue portable does Long wave better.Main issue is the recessed ETM button that needs a fingernail or something pointed to activate.FM is very, very good.Build quality however has really dropped by Tecsun, creaks all over, no rubber feet, wobbly knobs and no hinged back as stand. Not a solid feeling product which it should be at this price.3 out of 5.

Good compact portable shortwave receiver let down by poor sync detection and battery capacity.
I like the compact size of the receiver, it's ideal for carrying in a coat pocket or a small bag, it also uses a very compact lithium ion battery, this is replaceable and you can buy replacements cheaply, but the capacity is limited to around 1000mAh which is quite low for a portable radio, I would like to carry spares if I was travelling away from home where charging might not be possible. The radio is recharged using a micro usb cable and a phone charger or any standard type A usb port. Performance is good enough for it's size, it has a port for an external antenna, although it's sync detection isn't really worth buying this radio for, it struggles to lock to a carrier which is a shame, it could have been a good feature. It has a DSP filter options to improve listening in difficult conditions. This radio also lacks a stand, there's no built in prop or stand.

Good little radio
Love this radio. Really interesting, takes a while to learn. Exceptionally sensitive, can receive USA broadcasts in the UK, all around the world really. If you are looking for a lightweight, compact do it all radio, look no further.

Tuning knobs fell off in my hand
Not great quality. Feels very cheaply made and not worth the £80 it’s on here for.The tuning knobs fell off in my hands upon opening it.It also was impossible to tune anything in, due to the fact that every time you wanted to tune up, it would tune down. So an example would be Radio 2 (89.3) and then if you tuned the knob backwards or forwards, it would tune to 89.2 then 89.4 and would not go past 89.5. It would just keep going between 89.2 and 89.5. Think it’s a manufacturing fault.Avoid!

Impressive wide band mobile radio receiver
Very good Portable wide band receiver . FM reception is very good and a pleasant sound from the speaker. Scanning is good and there are a big memory slots for stations. Short Wave listening is particularly good and the use of lsb and usb is good for radio ham listening particularly on twenty metre band.
