Not what I expected...
First of all, I want to say that this isn't a bad ink. Noodler's doesn't make bad inks. It writes smoothly, dries quickly, and has decent shading. That being said, the color of this ink doesn't look anything like the "red" pictured above with this Amazon product listing. The bottle clearly reads "NOODLER'S RED INK," so I know there wasn't a mix-up, but the red color of this ink looks a little brownish to me. It looks kind of like dried blood actually. If that's the color you're after, this is the ink for you.I am an instructor at a technical school, and I was intrigued by an ink that could potentially "put fear into the hearts of students" as another reviewer wrote. I'll have to say after extensive trials with this ink, it would only evoke fear if you managed to convince people that you are actually writing with the blood of failed students. Considering the color, that wouldn't be too hard to imagine. However, I was expecting a bright red that would leap off the page and command attention to the offending errors. That, unfortunately, is not what this is. It's a subtle, dark, slightly brownish red that is quite elegant but not what I wanted. Now I'm stuck with a generous supply of a red ink I probably won't ever use. Also, here's a general warning for all Noodler's inks: open very carefully. This company always fills their bottles all the way to the rim. If you're holding the bottle in your hand when you open it, it WILL spill. Set the bottle on a flat, solid surface and open slowly!UPDATE: The more I look at this ink, the more I like it. I got over the initial disappointment of the color not being as bright and eye catching as I had wanted. I bumped up the rating up to four stars. Still, potential buyers be warned: the picture here and other reviews give the impression that this ink is much brighter than it actually is.UPDATE #2: Amazon has a different picture for this ink now. It much more accurately represents the actual color than the old picture did, but it still looks brighter online than it is.

Color says Christmas
Haven’t had time to do a real test just checking the color and it is just what I wanted. Definitely Christmas for me. Gotta do my Christmas cards now.

Love the ink hate the bottle
I never leave a review but this product has me feeling conflicted. I love the ink. I hate the bottle. It's tall, it makes it impossible to fill my cartridges without getting ink ALL over my hands

Best Fountain Pen Red I’ve Found
This produces a deep, dark red. However, it has this cool effect where it subtly changes hue depending on your stroke. It’s hard to describe until you really see it, but it’s cool. I like it. I’d best describe it as moving from scarlet to crimson to red as you move from heavy to light stroke.I’ve tried several “reds” and they usually come out either opaque or even pink; not this ink. Even with its subtle color change as you write, it’s still a “red.”It flows and cleans nicely as well. Could not recommend this more.

A red to put fear in the hearts of students.
I bought this red to use for grading, and I can say it is unquestionably red. Enough of this "grade in purple since it causes less anxiety". Grade in RED because it is beautiful and dramatic. This red is a very pure red with no hint of orange, and it is brighter than say Visconti Burgundy. And it flows oh so much better. I am using it in a sheaffer desk pen from the 50s, and the flow is perfect. This pen is a pretty standard pen, so I cannot speak to how this would flow in a scratchy pen, but for most it should be fine.

As usual not disappointed with noodlers
Almost every noodlers ink I've bought has been great, and I run several different colors. This red is red, very bright vibrant it catches your eye, it runs well through my cheap work horse pens as well as my very expensive pens that don't leave my house, even my few vintage ones. The only draw back and this has happened a few times, when they give you 3oz. of ink they give it too you in a bottle that holds exactly 3oz. be careful opening it, it took a week for my wife to cool off from the bright vibrant red stain on our table. I am a noodlers fan just the same though, and it's made in the U.S. which is just that much more of a selling point.

Solid brick-red
It's a nice strong red color; more of a brick-red than you might expect for a correction pen, but that serves to make writing with it much more legible than most bright red pens. Not at all waterproof, and feathers just a bit on some paper, even with an extremely fine tip.

A true red
This writes in a Lamy Safari Fine almost exactly the color on the monitor. For some reason, my expectation was more of a glossy red, but this is very flat. That said it is a true red. Exactly what I want and need for editing. I give a 4 instead of 5 star because it is an ordinary color compared to noodler's extraordinary colors.
