Q: what are the dimensions of these bags?

For many years the dimensions have been 8" by 11" - just in the past couple of months they changed to 8" x 10" without notifying anyone - and the boxes still state 8" x 11" Rip off!

Q: Does the "heat seal" referred to on the 44 count bags make it a different product than the 20 count bags? Or are they the same product?

If the bags say heat seal, you need a food sealer type product. I use the ones with the vacuum seal spot - they don't require a heat seal, they require a pump to withdraw the air out of the package.;

Q: are these freezer bags ?

Yes, you can create a bag, vacuum seal the bag, and put in the freezer for storage
