Good rod, terrible reel.
I purchased 2 on sale at the Tire. Mostly I wanted the 2 piece ugly stick for sticking it my trunk. Good thing I have great reels. Both of the reels have stopped function properly in only 3 outings with my grandkids. Those stop casts, drag was messed up and started making lots of gringin noise. Tried to pull out the line and redo it, only fixed the problem till the next time we went out. I will be swapping it out pretty soon. I have a Pflueger President that my wife uses that is top notch for a bit over 50 bucks. My Zebco Omega and Bullet are also extremely good spincasters. Buy the combo and donate the reel to the trashbin. It was still cheaper than buying an ugly stick by itself, which says the reel is pretty much worthless.Might as well throw my dads old johnson on there...ummm the reel. Those green all metal ones where built like tanks. 50+ years old and still work good. Synergy broke in 100-200 casts. very poor quality.Rod gets 4 stars(some problems with not tight enough seating, seen it cast off the tip half twice so far) reel gets a minus 2 stars.Happy fishing.

Love this pole but the place I bought if from not so much
The fishing pole is great once I got it. Just the right size, style and weight. Love the handle as it doesn't stick way out there like some newer fishing poles do. First pole I ordered was lost in the mail. Contacted seller and they didn't nothing. Had to get refund from Amazon. Then was stupid enough to order second pole and finally got it about a month later.

Combo for my great nephew.
This is probably the best combo out there for a young child. It is pricey, but it is all about not having problems with it, eating up precious fishing time. That make the price worth it.

Reel is total junk.
I bought the combo for my wife and after less than 1/2 dozen times of use, the drag no longer works on the reel. You can loosen it all the way and and you still can't pull the line out. I'm expecting the rod to hold up so I'll be replacing the reel with a Zebco 33. Hopefully that will work out better. If not, the wife will have to learn how to use a spinning reel, but I hate to replace the junk spincast reel with a spinning reel since the rod is designed for the spincast system.

My favorite combo
Love it! Beginner friendly and unbreakable. I have the 2 piece rod that slides apart for easier transport.
