Danby MAS DDW621WDB Countertop Dishwasher, White

These compact, "countertop" dishwashers are a strange beast. They are marketed as a solution for apartment-dwellers who lack space for a full-size dishwasher, but they are HUGE in terms of a countertop appliance, and not really portable given their size and bulk. They are a great option for specific uses such as in a tiny home or an RV, or maybe if you are renting a house without a dishwasher and can't install a full-size model. I purchased mine because I'm only one person and it would take me ages to fill up a regular dishwasher, I didn't want to give up any more storage space than I had to, and I have a bit of a bad back so I can use this without having to bend all the way to the floor to open and close the lip and access the lower rack. Though it is "plug and play" with the included hose, it's very simple to permanently install. I purchased a universal stainless steel dishwasher hose kit along with the unit for the water input. At Home Depot I purchased a branch tailpiece (see photo) with a 1/2" barbed pipe and a turnbuckle hose clamp. All I had to do is use the hose kit that comes with the dishwasher, cut off the part that connects to the faucet and plug that directly into the part I bought at home depot. It was snug enough I probably didn't need the hose clamp, but added it for good measure. Why I love this model: - It holds a ton. I can fit several pots and pans, dishes, glasses, cooking utensils, etc all at the same time. I basically run the thing once a day and it can hold all the cookware and dishes I've used for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. - It's higher quality than low-end dishwashers. Lower-end dishwashers of a comparable price are all plastic inside and feel cheap and crappy. For the same price, this dishwasher is steel inside and feels robust and sturdy. - It's very quiet. Again, low-end dishwashers of a similar price are very loud. You'd have to spend double or triple to get a full-sized dishwasher as quiet as this one. - It just does everything well. I've been using it every day for two months now and I've never had anything come out that was spotted or cloudy or needed a second washing - and I only give things the quickest of rinses before putting them in. If you're comparing models of compact dishwashers - just buy this one and be happy, don't agonize over comparing other models. This one is the best.

Amazing. This is the best purchase I have made in years. I've gone from being a slob with a sink full of dishes to a neatnik, overnight. I can't get over how much easier it makes my life. When is the last time I've bought something that actually made life simpler, instead of more complicated? I can't remember. Anyway, so far: 1. My dishes have come out perfectly clean and spotless on all of the settings I've tried so far (90, 100, and 110 min cycles). Even the dishes that I didn't rinse that had crusty, dried melted cheese, etc., were 100% clean afterwards. 2. The dishes dry quickly if you open the door a smidge. Or you can just leave them in with the door closed overnight and they will be completely dry by morning. 3. It is the perfect size for my tiny kitchen. Big enough to hold a couple days worth of dishes, but not so big that it looks intrusive or takes up too much space. 4. It was really easy to set up. Honestly, I was really worried about this because I am not a handy person. But it fits my faucet fine. I just had to swap out the thick washer for the medium one. No leaks, no fuss. Some miscellaneous info: 1. I use the little Cascade pods and Jet Dry and have had perfect results so far. 2. It is so quiet that you forget it is on until it expels water into the sink in short bursts. These bursts have caused the dog to jump straight up in the air from 2 rooms away. (UPDATE: He is used to it by now) 3. I think I read somewhere that you're supposed to shut your faucet off when the cycle is over, but I have forgotten to do so frequently. When I come back in the morning there are no leaks. (Not that I'm saying "Don't turn the faucet off", but just that it doesn't seem to be an issue for me). 4. I haven't had a problem fitting 11" plates at a slight angle. I run them through with my bowls, cups, etc. and save the dirty pots and large frying pans for a separate wash. UPDATE 1: Three months later, I'm still in love. This is probably the best thing I've ever bought from Amazon. UPDATE 2: It has been 2 years now and it still works as well as when I first bought it. I absolutely love this thing. I don't even bother rinsing- I just make sure there isn't anything on the plates that could clog the drain. Have only had to run a 2nd cycle two times in the last 2 years, and that was my fault because I loaded the dishes wrong and something obstructed the little detergent door from opening. I'm continuously surprised by how well this product works, especially since my mom bought some fancy-pants full-size diswasher at around the same time and spent well over $1000 but hers barely works at all.

I just use the light wash setting and it cleans good enough to please anyone. It does indeed dry them with an internal heater. 10" plates are ideal. 11" plates will need to face the other way. And will not hold as many. But it holds quite a bit of dishes and large pots. It's been a workhorse for me. Good build quality. It has only one sprayer on the bottom. No sprayer on the top. But I have packed it somewhat unfairly. And I didn't get dishes that were only clean on one side. All dishes get clean all over. The drain might be a little loud. But you can talk over it. It doesn't run long except for the beginning drain cycle. And you can tune it out at 12 feet. The washing is quiet and almost soothing. You can replace the hosing. So you could get clever with mounting. I have mine on a rolling kitchen cart/island that's counter high. I did need rinse aid. But I think I was just using too much dish soap. And you will need to get used to that. Also the soap door can get caught somewhat easily when it opens. Not a big deal at all. I jam the silverware basket full. And it just does that. All the soap is rinsed out and used when the door partially opens. But when washing odd sized dishes and loads you will need to make sure the door has enough room to partially open. Despite this, it doesn't feel like a compromise dishwasher. The rack is thoughtfully laid out. So it isn't too much of a Jenga puzzle figuring out how to get everything in. You can wash a few silverware pieces hanging vertically in the wine rack without the silverware basket for example. I think this could work for 2 people. There was another brand that was 100-200$ more. But I'm not sure where the money is going. If having 2 sprayers get's the wash time down then maybe. But it's not going to clean any better than this one. Wash time is 75-110 minutes depending on the cycle you choose. I've had it for 3 months and I run it almost everyday. 22 out of 30 days maybe? Hard to say. I cook a lot.

First of all, fantastic. I could never regret buying this, it has save me so much time in the kitchen and it cleans dishes perfectly. I like to test how far it can go sometimes, and I've never pulled a dirty dish out of this dishwasher. I use powder detergent and fill the dispenser every time. Ive put unrinsed pans, glasses, silverware and plates into this and they come out SPOTLESS. If you pull the dishes out the moment theyre done being clean, they'll be wet, because it doesnt really dry them. That said, I put the dishes in after dinner and forget about them, and by the time I go to put them away the next morning or evening, they've usually dried on their own. While this dishwaser does the job, it feels kind of awkward. It is easy to set up and load and everything, but the size feels too big but also too small. The whole thing is a bit larger than I expected for a "countertop" dishwasher, although the dimensions provided are accurate. As for the inside of the dishwasher, I had to buy new plates because mine were too large to fit. It can fit 10 inch plates. If you DO stuff 6 plates in there, I kind of doubt it would clean them all the way. For two people, its perfect. I'll load in our two plates, cups, and silverware, in addition to the pan we used to cook, and they fit well. That said, it uses such little water and energy, I usually dont feel guilty if it takes two loads to wash all the dishes. Even if I leave a plate or pan in the sink overnight, this thing will still clean it. Also, sometimes the soap dispenser doesnt really work, but all you need to do is clean it, refill it, and run the dishwasher again. Also I don't really know if the manual mentioned it, but theres a filter in the bottom that can be accessed if you remove the rack, and you may need to pull it out and empty it (super easy) if it starts to collect larger particles. Overall, great purchase, no regrets.

I really need a 6th star for this thing. I was beyond satisfied - does a fantastic job! Perfect if you don't have a place to install a dish washer, but have a fair bit of counter-space by the sink.

This dishwasher is amazing! It cleans so well! My dishes came out spotless! Shipping was also faster than expected. I got it two days early! Make sure you measure before you buy. It fits in my space perfectly! I would recommend this dishwasher to anyone! It was super easy to put the hoses on and came with the faucet adapter too! It looks great on my counter!

In the past, I had always heard about how dishwashers were unsanitary/wasteful/expensive/etc, and I was adamant that I never needed one. For years, I did all my dishes by hand - sure, it took hours to do, every week, but at least I *knew* it was clean, right? Fast forward to when life made me unable to do it by hand for a month, and my wife finally convinced me to get a dishwasher. (Specifically, this one, since we don't have a place to hook up a full-sized one.) Now, if it were possible to legally adopt a dishwasher, I would. This thing isn't without its flaws - it's small, so I need to run it once every day or two in order to keep up, and it's not the most powerful thing, so I still rinse off everything before putting it in...but beyond that, little Danby has saved me a truly inordinate amount of time. I know some people have complained about it breaking down easily, but at least for me, it arrived undamaged and has been working for nearly a year, running every day, without a single problem. The dishes are just as clean, too. (They might even be cleaner, given the water's way hotter than I could stand handwashing with.) I've gone from cautiously giving it just the smallest amount of easily-cleaned ceramics, to throwing pots and pans in it daily. If it fits, it just...handles it. Even if you overcrowd the little guy, so long as you don't block the detergent release, he finds a way. (Do use powder, or at least gel, by the way - detergent packs are awful at actually doing their job, and not meant for a dishwasher this small anyways.) The only things I handwash any more are some wooden things, and I couldn't be happier with the time I've saved. If you're similarly cautious about dish washers but are considering this one, I'd say go for it. That said, given this one is small, there are a few things to keep in mind: For the love of everything, don't use detergent packs. They are awful for regular dishwashers and worse for this little guy. Powder's best, gel is acceptable. It's not that powerful, so rinse things before it gets to the washer. (So long as there's not visible soiling you should be fine.) Run the water for a minute to get it warm before turning this guy on - it has a heater in it, but it takes a while to kick in, and if you remember your middle school science classes, warmer liquids can dissolve more things in them. (That means more detergent in your water, and more grime off your plates.) Keep in mind that the jets are still strong enough to, say, knock a small dipping bowl around a bit, jamming the nozzle spraying arms. It wouldn't break the machine, but it would make you redo that load. Hypothetically speaking, of course. The loading tray is laid out poorly, but you should still respect it.

If there was a way to give this product negative stars, I would do it. Warning to all Amazon shoppers - Do not buy this product. Not only did this little machine break down after less than 3 weeks, but Danby's customer service is the worst I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. When I first hooked it up, I loved this little dishwasher. I was so happy to finally get something that would fit my tiny kitchen and it worked really well. Then one day, it started beeping and flashing lights. I opened it and noticed the detergent cup did not open. I thought this to be no big deal and restarted the machine. It was okay for another couple of days and then the same problem. This time the problem did not go away. by this time, we had just past the point of returning it to Amazon so we contacted Danby. What followed has been nothing but a run around from them. We were told to take it to an authorized repair shop who had the product for over two weeks and not able to fix it or even diagnose it. We asked Danby to intercede and help but to no avail. When I called, I was told to email. When I emailed, I got not reply so I had to follow up with a call. At this point, I have given Danby by email everything they have asked for but I still do not have a working dishwasher or a refund. I am ready to eat the loss of the money I have spent and put it in the trash but I just don't think that is fair. All I want is a dishwasher that actually works and keeps working for more than a few weeks!

Superó totalmente mis expectativas, no estaba muy convencido por el tamaño y pensé que igual la capacidad de lavado no iba a ser tan buena, no he lavado ni un solo plato, cazuela, etc desde que me llegó, tiene ciclo de 20 min y es más que suficiente si lo pones antes de que se le quede pegado la suciedad no consume casi nada de agua, estoy hablando de que en mi caso solo son cargas para dos personas, si es para una familia de 4 o más si recomendaría comprar una grande, la ventaja de esta es que es “portátil” y si rentas te la puedes llevar fácilmente, solo la conectas a la llave de la tarja y listo para usarse!

This item arrived on time and undamaged. I bought this dishwasher to replace my old danby dishwasher that I've had for a bit over 10 years, that finally broke. So I wasn't at all hesitant at buying a new one. It works great...dishes are clean and it's been been upgraded nicely. And it's much quieter. Danby hasn't failed me yet....

Perfecto para dos personas, facil de instalar, dependiendo del ciclo, gasta entre 5 y 12 Litros (menos que lavarlos a mano). Calienta el agua para lavar y su consumo energetico maximo es de 0.47KWh. Dependiendo de tu tarifa, eso equivale aproximadamente 1.3 MXN (tarifa maxima excedente) a 0.3MXN (tarifa normal en CDMX)

Note, this isn't a full sized dishwasher and doesn't have quite the cleaning power of one. That said, for the price, for the portability, it does a solid job. Rinse your dishes after you use them, don't let anything harden on them and you'll be mostly fine. It is a fair size, probably 2 to 3 times the size of a very large micro-wave, so you will need counter space. (check the dimensions). But for my rather small apartment, I was able to find a nice spot for it, and it's made life so much easier... (as a tall person, hand washing dishes is brutal on the back). Keep your receipt, keep your warranty, register your product. More-over, take care of this little guy, clean out the sump/drainage pump, and check the spray arms and clean them if necessary. (not every day, just every so often.) Take care of it and I don't see why this wouldn't last for years, and convenient in being able to take with me should I move.

I was worried because this sat on 'delivery date pending' for 4 days, but it shipped yesterday and arrived this morning, and it's AMAZING! I'm running my first load now. The faucet adaptor is brilliant, and it took me awhile to figure out what a faucet aerator is, but once I sorted it out, everything fit into place perfectly. I think I'm supposed to leave the faucet on throughout the cycle but the instructions weren't 100% clear on that part. Anyway, it's a great little machine and I'm over the moon that I won't have to hand wash my dishes anymore. It's quiet, which is great for my apartment use, and it's very well constructed. This fit in my teeny kitchen without any issues, but is large enough inside to fit a ton of dishes (even large cookware), so I couldn't be happier. Thank you Danny!!!
