Ariat Women's Heritage R Toe Western Boot

Great boot, but do your homework
I love these boots, they're the most comfortable footwear I own. I had to return the first pair, due to a problem with the heel and size. Please, if you don't want to deal with returns, check the Ariat website for exact boot sizes. They have a great size chart so you can choose the correct boot size. The big thing is you actually need to measure the length of your foot and pick the size that corresponds to that inches or cm you measured. You'd do the same thing to get fitted at a store for boots, but since you're buying online you have to do it at home for yourself. Do not just look at the tag on your sneakers and choose a size, because it might actually work out. I can wear up to a 10 in some brands, but in these boots I'm in a 9. Please save yourself some hassle and take the time to do a little research before you buy.As for quality, I had no problem with the pair I have. Ariat makes a great boot, and they are super comfortable. I wore these boots for 30 hours straight (it was a road trip that turned into a bigger event than planned), and had no problems. My feet didn't hurt, didn't get any cramps. Nothing. But I've also worn boots with a similar sized heel. If you're not used to a heel, maybe you should try something cheaper and see if the height and style is something you can work with. There's a review posted here rating these boots 1 star. Sorry, the person wasn't used to actual boots. Yes, the boots will be stiff right out of the box. If you're looking for soft, find a slouch boot (check Dingo for a good selection). These boots are made to be stiffer and stand up. And the cracking is typical of a leather boot that's been sitting in a box since it left the factory. And they're going to be tight at some points, and should be in the area in front of your ankle, around the top of the foot but not the ball of the foot...confusing but there's some good tutorials online on how to fit boots if you are a newbie buying a first pair. And the boots are distressed leather, made to look worn. It's a dye and processing technique, doesn't mean the boot is of low quality. In fact most boots are like that now. Some good leather care is all you need to keep them looking great.Overall, I could not ask for a better boot than the Ariat Legend. They have taken a beating and remain so very comfortable. They fit like they're supposed to, and are plenty wide in the calf.

Color not as pictured and DEFINITELY needs breaking in...
The "Sassy Brown" boots look like a cognac color in the photo. What I just got in the mail, however, is an extremely dark brown boot...more the color of the "chocolate" photo here on Amazon (see my attached photo for actual color). I would have thought they sent me the wrong boots, but the red stitching on these matches the Sassy Brown photo and the box they came in says Sassy Brown so I guess these are it. Still a beautiful boot at a great price, so I'll probably keep them but thought I'd give the heads up to the rest of you. Also, the leather on these is incredibly stiff and has a waxy film on them...even on the rubber soles. Very strange. I could actually rub my thumb on the heel and rub off the wax (see photo #2) and the leather itself has a bit of a haze from it. Maybe they do that now to protect or waterproof the boots? Who knows, but I'm hoping it will eventually wear off. I have two older pairs of these Ariat Legends (black and brown oiled rowdy) and the leather on those is much softer and arrived with NO wax...but leather is still leather so these should break in and soften eventually. They already have after just walking around in my house in them for a couple of hours. So just know, VERY uncomfortable straight out of the box, not entirely true to color, narrow fit (which is fine if you have narrow feet like I do) and they run large so order at least a half size down. Be prepared for a good amount of pressure on your arch and other spots when you first put them on but they WILL conform to your foot during the breaking in process. So if the size and fit feels reasonably good, don't give up on them just because of a couple of tight spots.Because of the color being off and the stiff, waxy leather, I'm going to take one star off. But they are still an extremely beautiful boot and I know from experience that they are of excellent quality and will take plenty of abuse. My oiled brown pair are several years old (pretty much worn exclusively) and still going strong! Because of this, Ariat has earned my loyalty with their "Legend" series.

Most perfect Boot!
I purchased the Black Pair for a festival, and was first questioning the price (Did not want to ruin them). But honestly I am glad I purchased. They are alittle tight around the foot area at first. I usually wear a 6 1/2 and I ordered a size 7. I did wear them to the festival, and had to change my shoes at the festival though as there was alot of walking, but by day 2 I was able to put them on no problem. 3 days to fully break in from my experienceGreat Quality!! Great Boot!! I will be buying the Brown pair soon.

Too small to even get my foot In
These boots were entirely too small I returned them in the exact packaging they came in. I was told I would be refunded when they received the boots. They received the boots days ago and has my refund date WEEKS out!! I can’t even buy myself a different pair of boots because of this. My refund date was just moved AGAIN!!! Insane they have had the boots back a month and keep moving my refund date with no way to contact any one directly. It’s crazy how ARIAT is doing people y’all!!

Comfortable but too wide at the top
I bought my usual size, 7 1/2. It was bit of a struggle to get my foot into the boot but once I did, it was super comfortable! However, the top of the boot at the calf was so wide, it looks like I'm wearing a funnel around my leg. My calves are average size. This would be a great boot for someone with larger calves.

These Boots Were Made For Walking
Wore these straight out of the box and omg these are comfier than the Ariat Roper Boots (which I did get on sale) but I think it's worth the price tag. I was looking for a boot that:- Doesn't have a flamboyant design that screams "cowboy boots" from afar- Black- Easy to take off & put on- Comfortable to walk inThese Ariat Heritage R Toe boots checks every aspect! Even at this price point, part of me is contemplating another pair.I can't say how durable it is as I haven't worn it for years, but I do sincerely hope that they do NOT discontinue this style. It's classic, and comfortable and I want to wear 'em forever!

Good fit for wide tiny feet
I purchase this item as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She has tiny wide feet and she loves Ariat boots for the fit and look. I took a chance and order these boots and they fit comfortably. Excellent product.
