Fun activity
Before I got the book I threw together a happy village based on a YouTube video of the author. After I got the book I felt intimidated! Weird. But I got over it. This is a fun activity and I recommend it whether you use scraps of fabric like I do, purchase new fabric just for this project or you could make them out of paper. Itβs all good. Have fun!

Loved making this project
Other ladies in my quilt guild made this so I just had to try it! It was fun and the book was clear and to the point with lots of different pictures to show my options. A good deal if you want to make a Happy Village!

Fun quilting technique.
Bought this book for a quilting class. Amazon offered the first edition for several dollars less. I bought this one because I always want the newest and best. Found that the earlier addition would have been fine, as the teacher guided us through the quilt making. It was a fun quilting technique. I especially enjoyed it because it let you be the designer and nothing you did was wrong because it was your design. I plan on making another one soon.

A must buy book for anyone wanting to do landscape and/or village quilts.
Once again, Karen Eckmeier has nailed it. She's truly one of the best quilt designers and authors out there. I have quite a library of quilt books, and none are as inspiring or as easy to do as hers. Lots of ideas that are do-able. I already own Accidental Landscapes, which is my favorite quilt book. Happy Villages is a good one too, and I look forward to trying the patterns.

Build your own and be happy!
Happy Villages is a lovely book. Includes step by step instructions for you to build your own village. They might look complicated to you but they are like child play. You can improvise as much as you want to make it your own design or you can follow Karen's ideas. After all she put them there for you to use. Have fun building.
