what it looked like for folks to bring in someone who had overdosed
The book is obviously more expansive in telling the whole story, but that world of gangs and heavy drugs is and was a harsh and dangerous life to be in. David Wilkerson shows that the West Side Story depiction was a bit light on heavy details. If you are concerned about such social issues, this movie shows that there is hope for using such methods. If you think about all the crack cocaine and crystal meth which is on the streets now, a compassionate approach is still workable. When I was young, my folks ran Teen Challenge in Atlanta. The hippies were in their peak and I saw, as a second grader, what it looked like for folks to bring in someone who had overdosed, or who had been beaten senseless. So, many came, found their own people again and did what it took to live a good life. The Church is the perfect institution for dealing with such social ills, one person at a time. Give it a try, you will see.

Glad to see an old movie once again
I saw this movie in a theater way back in the early 70's with our Youth group from church. I was from a small farming community in the Midwest and never thought about gangs and such so this was a real interesting story to me. Fast forward 40 plus years... I came across the movie(Cross and the Switchblade) when searching for something else and decided I would love to see it again. Still a great movie, rally enjoyed seeing it again. Hadn't ever had a chance to see Run Baby Run although I had heard about many years ago. enjoyed it also. So glad I had a chance to purchase these old movies. the story line is still as important today as it was back in the 70's.

Good flick
I liked the Cross and the Switchblade, but Run, Baby Run was somewhat of a disappointment. I had expected a drama like the Cross, but it turned out to be a documentary. Other than that, it was well done.

His faith in and love for Christ Jesus were the driving force behind everything ...
These movies are as relevant today as the day they were filmed. David Wilkerson gave his life and ministry to help people become free of drugs. His faith in and love for Christ Jesus were the driving force behind everything this country pastor did. Teen Challenge, which came from his heart, is one of the most successful drug rehabilitation successes on the planet. What a delight that we have his life on film as well as in the book by the same name. "The Cross truly is stronger than the switchblade."

Too violent for children of under the age of 17.
Demonstrates the Lord's great love and patience for broken individuals who have been abused and neglected.

Just what I needed when I needed it!
I bought this for my grandson who is recuperating from severe injuries resulting from a crash caused by drunkenness. I have not heard from him or his family as to whether he watched the DVD's or not. All I know is that UPS delivered it. I am praying that they will convict him that he must not drink and drive - or drink at all. I am thankful that you had this set exactly when I needed it.
