Magia

I find Alan Chapman's work here fascinating (and the cover was nice👍) but ultimately I gave it a hard pass after I read a quarter of it. I personally didn't jive with the content at all.As the other large review wrote, this book's teachings is not for everyone. But then, nothing is. You'll either click with the content here or not. Even Mr. Chapman says so in a later passage in the book.For me, the tone of it was off-putting. It reads like a new-age religious text. I was expecting a book similar to his work in "Advanced Magick for Beginners". It's not.Before diving into "Magia" I would suggest you check out the video and the audio recordings he posted on his web site (he has the whole book there to listen). That way you know what you're getting into.

This is a highly unusual book. Even more than Chapman’s previous books on magick (Advances magick for beginners) and enlightenment (The urn etc.). It describes teachings on the nature of Divine Reality and awakening that were spontaneously ‘channeled’ while the author was giving a retreat and of which recordings exist. The teachings are definitely not trivial to understand and need to be applied but once understood they give a remarkable universal view on enlightenment, cosmology of enlightenment (as exists in Neoplatonic tradition), Western wisdom tradition and the new Aeon. The real deal but only for those willing to consider that the west has it’s own, mostly forgotten and ignored, enlightenment tradition and willing to study and exercise this. Definitely a must buy for those sincerely interested in awakening, especially if they happen to have a serious interest in the Western tradition (Neoplatonism, Thelema, Hermeticism, Gnosticism etc.) they might see parallels. The book is gonna be a conplete succes or fail depending on your views and willingness to seriously consider what is written,so continue on your own risk and peril, but this might be the teaching you are waiting for.
